It has Indian modifications. India replaced some Russian subsystems within the Bars radar with Indian ones. Since MKI is the backbone of Indian Air Force, it is only natural to expect India try to add something to the radar to make it unique.

and data processors under project "Vetrivale" to replace the original Russian components, but failed to do so within the required time frame, so MK2 still used the Russian equipment. In 2004, India delivered Vetrivale radar computer based in the i960 architecture.

This was back in 2004. I'm sure the radar has seen many other changes over the 17 years hence.
I doubt, highly, that anything India has done would be anywhere near comparable to either the radar that the F-15J first achieved operationally with, or any improvements/upgrades it’s received since its induction. And, why would they need to hide their capabilities from the QUAD, anyway; aren’t they all allies ‘til the end?

It doesn't matter if the allies have superior radars. Having it turned on only creates more avenues for potential leaks in capability. India has never turned it on when exercising with US.

QUAD 'insists' they are allies.

F-15J was state of the art for the late 20th century but Japan failed to modernize it in significant numbers. I don’t think that it is superior to the MKI in terms of radar and avionics.

I see! Seems they’re only scheduled for an AESA upgrade in the near future. I’d assumed that JASDF would’ve accomplished that, by now!

I thought they retired their Jaguars?

Or that's an old photo?
They only just got their Rafales, so shouldn’t be that old.

I think they have been a bit stop-start with their planned Jaguar retirement (now pushed to 2024?) owing to not having anything to replace them with due to the ongoing failure of the LCA.
