Who are those goons? Were they armed with lethal weapons? It has to be something serious enough to justify soldiers using lethal force on some Indian citizens. Isn't it?

I recalled the massive Western condemnation the HK police suffered when they used firearms while being lynched by mobs. But the West is awfully silent with this incident. Hmm...
Yeah only it's range is a little bit larger.

They were throwing petrol bombs and that in close to the residental area.
I see. Then Indian troops are still very trigger happy relative to their counterparts in more developed countries. But they get no condemnation. Especially from the West. How nice.

Petrol bombs while nasty weapons themselves, are common in riots and protests around the world. Massive amounts of petrol bombs were hurled at the HK police, in a city, and even at the police station. But the HK police had not killed scores of rioters. Nevertheless, they still get far more Western condemnation. And every petrol bomb hurled at them, celebrated in the Western media. This is the true face of 'Western values'.
