Did someone screw up the scale model, or are they actually retaining the booster rocket for the air launched version of the Brahmos? Most air launched AShM and cruise missiles dispense with the land based version’s booster.

With the booster, the missile is far too long for anything other than centreline carriage, but without that, it might just be short enough to carry under the wing without interfering with the tail movement, provided the MKI has the structural strength and lifting power to take off with 3 Brahmos.

Would seem like a good trade-off to triple your missile load per plane for some sacrifices in range, especially when you consider the range of the missile even without booster.
booster is not fitted in air launched version that's why it's weight is 500 kg less than land version.

The kind of thrust Brahmos creates makes sense to have a clean release and ignition away from Jet's sphere to avoid Wake turbulence as jet may manoeuvre soon after firing the missile.

The drag remains constant. Also the missile is made to negate it best possible with aerodynamically stable configuration and it floats. The acceleration again remains constant @ 9.8 m/s^2 (minimum). Only the velocity it inherited from fighter jet falls before it reaches to terminal velocity.

Therefore its a balance approached not to wait that long and too early to ignite.

Russia asked high cost for integrating Brahmos on mki so we did it on our own by doing some structural modifications and changing mission computer.

You are absolutely right my friend, and we had a chain of PM's about it, we have every intention of keeping this thread respectful for all member's, please help us out...

Ougoah and Chain, you gents need to kool it, or you will be joining your two friends on vacation:

I'm going to give ONE more warning about posting here on the Indian Military thread, any more provocative, insulting flame bait will earn you a weeks vacation!, if you are a habitual offender here, longer vacations and permanent bans will ensue!

The Mod's are on this stuff, report it and let us handle it! back and forth and two year old krap will no longer be tolerated!

I asked the other moderator's for assistance, and upon review, while Deino feels that Berserk's post wasn't appropriate he felt it did not rise to the level of flame bait, and asked me to have another look, upon reflection Deino is right, and I am modifying Berserk's ban back to two weeks!

We need to be respectful here Gents, help us out, lots of us have been dissapointed when planned military upgrades or acquisitions did not happen, or I should say all of us.... please be considerate.....

Look at AMRAAM Kill-Map in Syria since 2012 shows that AIM-120-C5 BVR AAMs have no recorded claims of shotting down any combat jets or even 50km let alone 60km which Siddiqui has claimed. In fact, since the induction of AMRAAMs in the 1990s, there is no recorded kill over the 60-80km range even when AMRAAMS like C5 version have a range over 100km and most of the recorded kills have been around 20-30km range and over 40km against only against light trainer jet which was not equipped with any internal EW or RWR or even MAW).

I think it's more a case of weak opposition ( Su-22, L-39, MiG-23, Su-24 ) and it's bad situational awareness, so Turkish/US fighters can get closer than they need than anything else... Or, a cat playing with the mouse. I'm surprised they didn't went for a gun kill...

still 60 km is far away from the kill zone of missile having range of 100km. one can easily dodge it.
