India has the courtesy culture meaning they will lie to someone if they believe the person they're telling the lie to would rather hear the lie than the truth. So when the liar and the person they're lying to are cut from the same cloth, it's a match made in heaven because both acknowledge the point of it. Why do we always see India claiming they're going to beat China by this point or that when they never do? It's because they want to hear the lie instead so no one complains about not being told the truth.

China set a goal to eradicate extreme poverty by 2030. Instead it has eradicated extreme poverty in 2020, 10 years ahead of schedule.

As usual, China's truly historic achievement in 2020 gets little coverage in the world. If any, they are mostly with questions of doubt.

Contrast this to all the loud hypes, promises, and Jai Hinds in India:

If anything, 2020 is the watershed year that finally confirms who is truly delivering on its promises, and who is blowing hot air. Funny that the West and Russia would still so readily drink the Indian Kool-Aid that India is somehow on a trajectory to become a superpower.

So how does India take the failure to deliver on the statements above? Well, India as always, will reward this failure. Therefore Modi ji and the BJP are very likely to win yet another term with more 'Superpower India' and 'Holy Cow' promises. Just like their last one in the 2019 Indian General Election:

"Every vote you cast for the BJP will help Narendra Modi work harder to make India a strong nation. When we come back to seek your vote for the 2024 general election, India will be among the top three superpowers of the world." - Amit Shah, April 2019.

I'm not holding any breath for India Superpower 2024. We should now know better than to trust Indian promises. Long may India continue voting clowns into office. Jai Hind!

As history have shown. Not a chance. India operates in the form of "Populism Democracy". They don't care how many promises Indian leaders failed to fulfil, just that they say the things they wanna hear.

As Jayant Bhandari once commented on the 2016 Indian Demonetization Crisis: By banning INR100 and INR 50 notes, Modi practically outlawed more than 80% of INR notes in circulation overnight. All Indians in the middle class and poorer classes suffered. But they supported this government decision. Because Modi promised that when all the illegal INR notes have been returned, corruption will disappear, and he will gift USD 22,000 to each Indian citizen. Simple economics says that that is impossible. But the Indian populace cheered and took on that promise. We all know there was no money given to them after Demonetization had passed. But it seems the Indian populace have already forgotten about Modi's promise and moved on to other things. Like the Doklam crisis in 2017.

I live in another democracy with similar circumstances: Malaysia. I have seen how easily a political part can win an election. Step 1: Promise free stuff, like free money handouts, temporary tax holiday, etc. Step 2: Blame a foreign country and an ethnic minority for all of Malaysia's problems. In Malaysia's case: China and the Malaysian Chinese. Step 3: Promise some great utopian dream. For Malaysia, it'll be making Malaysia into a leading nation in the Islamic world. Step 4: Frighten the voters. In Malaysia's case: a 'Communist China takeover'. Remind them that you are the defender of the majority race (Malays) and Islam. And Presto! You've won the hearts and minds of the majority voters in Malaysia. All the past corruption cases, crimes, and mistakes are forgotten. That worked for more than 60 years, until 2018. But that is another story to tell.

The BJP in India just followed the same basic steps. Step 1: Promise free stuff like some fantasy money. Step 2: Blame the Muslims, ethnic minorities, Pakistan, and China for all of India's problems. Step 3: Tell voters that India will achieve its dream of becoming a great Hindu superpower as long as BJP is in charge. Step 4: Tell Indians that only the BJP can defend India from evil Pakistan and China. Tell them that the opposition is too weak for task. It has worked very well so far.

That is why I believe democracy cannot function properly when the majority of the society are still stuck in the Middle Ages. Of all the non-white former colonies of the world. Only Singapore managed to transition into a modern society based on the British democratic system. The rest remained in the third world. Mostly stagnating, and sometimes even collapsing into failed states.

Xiao Mi is expanding in India. 99% of the components would also be sourced locally from India according to Bloomberg. Why...?

Bloomberg is not a trustworthy source when it comes to Chinese news after the super micro fake news. Still, I would not be surprised because you can never trust a corporation to care about a particular country's interests as its bottom line is to provide profit and growth to shareholders. To them, everything is entirely transactional and it's all about how much I can get from X vs. Y. This is why Milton Friedman's policies worked against USSR but failed against China because one was behind the iron curtain and the other is interconnected with the global financial system and manufacturing supply chain.

Actually Indian Govt is providing subsides and other incentives for companies who source majority of their components locally. Its what they call PLI (Production Linked Incentive scheme).

Indians are ultrasensitive about "Made in India" stuff so having this label would work well for them marketing wise.

Also Indian labour is very cheap so when you take all things into account then its a sound business decision.
