Lol this man is savage when commenting on indian issues
Ironically, it is democracy that allows them to continuously lie to their people... for example the people might ask why isn’t superpower 2020 a thing, well the current government can go, that’s because of the old regime, they left inherent problems that must be solved first, therefore we are now superpower 2045 under this more competent government... and by the time this government is done taking every penny they can and the people are unhappy, a new government is voted in promising to make superpower 2045 a reality, but a decade in as they are busy taking every penny they can, people will be asking the same thing again and they will give the same answer with different wording, rinse and repeat, and thus cycle of superpower xxxx continues...
Tho it doesn’t help that the majority of the population seems to have the memory of a goldfish, and yes I realise that is somewhat of an insult to goldfish as a species to be compared with Indian voters, but that is the best analogy, so every new government that come in and can promise the same thing, with the same slogan but with a different year attached or a different slogan but with the same meaning, and blame the old government as, by the time the new government come in whatever they have done as a party in the past would have been forgotten by most of the population and if that doesn’t work then the party can just promote themselves as new and improved, since they most likely have a new leader and this once again rinse and repeats and thus we have the current India, the rich and elites would have no problem perpetuating it either as they would be the ones to reap whatever rewards anyway... and it does help, it helps with lining the government officials, the rich and the elites pockets so why wouldn’t they want to continue the lie
Serves them right. Its the same youth that overwhelmingly voted for Modi in 2014 and 2019 (bcoz nationalism and islamophobia) . Looks like the Indian Youth are yet to realise that bigotry and jobs dont get along so well.

Voter's have goldfish memory is a problem for all democracies. Just look at Canada and US, no election promise is ever kept. The promises made at every election. New leaders cant be held account for previous government or even previous leader of the same party.
I generally agree with your point however for the US case I think the bigger problem is the galvanisation of the 2 sides, at least in recent elections... there are people on both the left and the right who would never vote for other side leaving pretty much only the centralist who ultimately decides but seems to vote more with who they hate less rather than who they like more... and memory of the past is, at least to me, pretty much irrelevant, as they are thinking which future would potentially be less Sh*t, tho that is only my point of view from what I know of the situation so I could be wrong on this... I can’t speak for the Canada as I know very little about their internal politics but I think you are right especially for 2 party democracies which I believe represents the majority if not all democracies.
