lol bilateral trade between China and Pakistan is 8 billion dollars only so why is china making cpec (which is still on paper for last 25 years )
India ASEAN trade will keep increasing and this proposed rail and road network will only increase India ASEAN trade and terrain in Myanmar not difficult compared to the one in India’s north east or Nepal it’s much easier and technology has improved too
And ASEAN needs india to counter China those small countries cannot counter huge china on their own that’s also the reason why they need this connectivity but trade is the primary objective rest everything else is secondary
ASEAN is not a uniform body, countries like Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar have great relations with China. What's to counter?

Can you tell me how many kms of rail (of any kind) India constructed in the last 5 years? Compare that to the 1000+km needed to reach Singapore, and let's figure out how many centuries it will take India to get there. We can also compare that to the kms China built and do an estimate as well. This exercise would of course assume no political redtape (which works in India's favor btw since India loves red tape).

'3 world records in a month': India now holds world record for fastest road construction,

  • India’s Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor is a world-class, freight-only railway line that is part of India’s most ambitious railway project since independence.
  • State-of-the-art technologies have been deployed along the corridor, marking a quantum leap for the traditionally labor-intensive railways sector.
  • The initiative will lower India’s logistics costs, support industrial zones along the route, free up existing tracks for passenger trains and move the country onto a greener growth path.

Could you give reputable sources and not Indian propaganda? I didn't bother clicking on the links once I saw economic times.

Lol this i was expecting it
2nd link is from world bank I will quote the link from international media for first one if I find
And this data has been released by Ministry Of roads and transportation of India the economic times is only quoting it
They’re making 38 kilometres of roads each day on an average and they want to increase it to 50 kilometres per day

Um he's asking for rail km. Road construction rate is given instead.

What's India's rail construction rate in the last ten years for example or pick the timeline.
India has layed railway tracks and built roads in extreme mountainous terrain of north east where it’s difficult to breath because of low oxygen content and over the mighty rivers like Ganges and Brahmaputra in flood prone areas like Bihar
Is it more difficult to make railways and roadways in Myanmar Thailand ? No not at all
India is also making dedicated freight corridors from Mumbai to Delhi to Kolkata they have developed massive electric locomotives exclusively to pull heavy freight
Read about dedicated freight corridors India is making
You can say that indians are learning from China the present government in India is fascinated by Chinese infrastructure projects in China and outside China

Right but in the context of your conversation with the PiSigma, it became about rail construction rate and he asked about India's (because it has some relevance to the discussion between you two) and you replied in road construction rate.

It's like someone saying they're a 100m sprint champion and then after being asked to provide their 100m sprint time average they responded with "my legs are super long look at this".

As on April 1, 2019, the Indian Railways have taken up 189 new line projects of length 2,555 km, costing Rs
3,74,753 crore, which are in different stages of execution or planning or sanction

Okay so there's a May 20th article about plans on rail extensions. I mean... China plans on building 500km/hr trains and is at least nearly done with the technology and in testing phase on that.

Still not seeing numbers on rail construction rate between years x and y for anything resembling a breakdown of what can be regarded as a general pace of completion... you know for the purposes of that previous conversation on how quickly India can build rail. Of course my opinion is that past rate doesn't necessarily limit future project rate but that's between Chandragupt and PiSigma.

As for the plan of building rail to connect India with various ASEAN countries, could certainly be done no doubt about that. Will it be and will it be profitable or purposeful for India? No one here knows.
