idk why the brits thought it was a good idea to just make it muslim vs non muslim when divisions are much more diverse
Frankly, I don’t think the brits thought it was a good idea and that exactly the point... I mean the problems from very moment of independence have persisted to today... I can only imagine it was intentional on the part of the brits and perhaps it had something to do with them pretty much being forced out...

Keep them fighting against each other so they forget about the real perpetrators

Well, that’s certainly might be one of the intentions and I presume that perhaps there is also the believe of the brits that the institutions and infrastructures they had left behind would create a powerful country or powerful countries should there be no conflict to keep them occupied. This was just after world war 2 and there was still the believe in the institutions of the brits that built and maintained the empire... while it’s true it was the time of the empire’s disintegration but that was more a result of world war 2 itself... but this is only pure speculation

what is ?
You will need to read from quite a few posts up to get the full context... but the quick version... we were discussing the governance of India and the Indian sub-continent being split on major religious grounds and how that has basically created a situation where proper governance of India would be next to impossible... My pure speculation comment had to do with one of the reason for sowing chaos when the brits left British India.

I presume that perhaps there is also the believe of the brits that the institutions and infrastructures they had left behind would create a powerful country or powerful countries should there be no conflict to keep them occupied.

India is considering an FTA with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). I hope China will also consider negotiating an FTA with CIS, or perhaps with most member states via the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), or better yet, invite them to join RCEP.

"considering" is the key word, it would take forever and it won't happen, unfortunately .. see what happen with RCEP

Other trade deals like the CTPP shows it will take forever (and some might pull out) but it will eventually happen? China should start negotiations early to get a first mover advantage.
