Include deleted post in moderation message.

When a mod deletes a post, the poster only gets a notification that a post of theirs was deleted in a particular thread. It can be very confusing when you have no idea what exactly was the offending post.

I would like to see the post that was deleted to be included as part of the notification message.

It gets especially bad in a thread like the Ukraine War that gets more active moderation. I for one would like to get some feedback on what posts are considered inappropriate.

Sometimes posts get deleted without notification. I think if mods want people to stop making the same mistake they should let people be aware of their transgression first.

I think having a function on the forum where the user can see their deleted post as default, that would be useful.

But that's not something we moderators can enable -- no such function exists.

There is an option where a "reason" for deleting a post can be filled out but it is relatively brief and often there are many posts that are being deleted in a sequence across multiple pages, and obviously we aren't going to write out a thorough explanation for each one.

However if a deleted post is associated with a transgression/violation of rules, then a separate warning is often posted either in the thread or in the banned/warned members thread.

For showing the deleted message, It depends on how the posts are deleted on the back end. Are they deleted permanently from the database or just simply marked as deleted by a table field.

If its the first case, you cannot show the deleted message to the user as a notification (well technically you could, but it would be a programming mess and not a good system design). If its the second case, it would be relatively trivial to implement that functionality.

It dont have to be a complex reason involved. Just "your post was deleted due to violation of rules" was sufficient; instead of just gone no notification.

Even then, if we are deleting two or three pages of posts, putting down a reason for each deleted post isn't going to be practical unless the forum's user interface itself is altered.

If a post is deleted, check the thread it was deleted in to see if a moderator wrote anything.

So there is no 'default reason' for deleting a post.

If there was a simple way of providing it, it would be done.

No way exists at present. It would require the forum's system to be changed itself, and is beyond us.

Sorry, will have to live with it.

Out of a lot of forums this is the most ridiculous one I've come across.

It is based on the pure whim of a caste of deified people who presume to rationalize their behavior. This forum is a good metaphor for the "rules-based international order".
