Out of a lot of forums this is the most ridiculous one I've come across.

It is based on the pure whim of a caste of deified people who presume to rationalize their behavior. This forum is a good metaphor for the "rules-based international order".

Well, if this forum is not up to your taste then why are you still here?

Dunno what you expect, the mods have real life jobs they can't be 24/7 active to write individual reasons to pages-worth of posts. IMO the forum software should have support to automate this kind of stuff.

So when the mods delete a post there should be a small pop-up list where a default reason can be selected (or custom one can be written). You could have something like "derailed conversation", "offtopic", "insulting/harassment", "response to deleted post" etc.

The hell you talking about?
this is actually a common sentiment among Chinese people. If someone is banned from a Chinese forum, the default position is that this is silencing freedom of speech and tyranny, an arbitrary exercise of power. If someone is banned from a forum in a certain beacon of freedom, they will be shouted down that this is a private platform, that there is no freedom on private platforms, and they can just get their own billion dollar tech company if they want freedom of speech. In other words: let them eat cake.

Who uses the word “caste” to describe people these days? Beside that one place.

Anyway, clearly someone hasn’t been on Reddit aka political and geopolitical subreddits. Doesn’t take much to get banned if he talk about the opposite way. Maybe he should try posting pro-Russian or anti-war posts on the Ukraine subreddit. See how well that works out for him.

I've found that the moment political talk is allowed to run rampant, the quality of discussion instantly nosedives. So from that viewpoint I think SDF's strict moderation is good in allowing it to not degrade to nationalist piss matches.

There are many places to discuss pro-Chinese geopolitics online (both inside and outside the wall), why limit yourself to a mostly technical forum?

Forums have forum rules, period. If you don't like our forum rules then it may not be the right forum for you. Your metaphor is terrible because we never said that our rule is the rule for all forums, and we don't try to force other forums to enforce our rules.

And also your comment has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.
