And compare and contrast, western MSM. Did any Hong Kong protestors ever get stopped with assault rifles like tgese peaceful protestors in Taiwan? Taiwan is taking a leaf out of Trump's playbook.

Edit: video unavailable for some reason.

Ok. Here's a subsitutue. Heres English Vegetable reporting to her master of her progress. Can you imagine Carrie Lam doing this? Lol.

Western MSM: we much freedom! No censorship!

Western big tech: this video does not comply with our officially approved version of events, so we make it go bye-bye. Much freedom, no censorship!

I always thought that Tiananmen was more of a product of the time period rather than some act of an evil government.
The reality of 80's China is a very backwards place.

Professional soldiers are not really a thing until basically the 2000's. Even in the 90's commercial corruption in the military was a big problem.

To that point, forget about crowd control training.

In addition, there's no real riot control gear. Everything was seconded from the military rather than civilian purpose vehicles. Soldiers tried to use batons, but were quickly overwhelmed by the protestors. Basically they jumped from batons straight to live rounds. Now you have tear gas, shields/control tactics, rubber bullets, pepper balls, bean bags, drones, tasers, sonic riot control systems, etc. etc.

If you look at what happened in HK, not a single death. Only two shots fired, one was 100% justifiable as the police officer was being clubbed even after warning attackers, the other was maybe avoidable, but not unjustified. Granted this is not mainland, but certainly we see even from just from the advertising of police products that we it is highly unlikely we would see T-55's on the street even if such a mass protest came to happen.

Consider that most of the deaths happened as protestors clashed with soldiers on the streets around the city to stop the military from entering the square. According to some sources this was the first time tear gas was ever used in mainland China (It was probably expensive too). Nowadays, we would expect the police would just tear gas the crap out protestors blocking streets and at some point they would be overwhelmed because they don't have full gas masks, or have not donned them correctly to make a good seal. Pretty much the tactic used by HKPF and most western police forces.

Ironically, in the US, the police are going the other way, becoming more militarized. More and more M4/automatic weapons, MRAPs commonly deployed to intimidate protestors...

Not to get too off topic, but a lot, if not most of the casualties from that day actually came from soldiers firing at the ground (shooting over heads is not an option in a city) but the rounds skipped and ricocheted off the tarmac. When you have whole platoons firing on full auto, you can have dozens or hundreds of civilians down before the soldiers realised what happened and ceased fire. Multiply that across multiple fronts and 300 civilian casualties is absolutely realistic before central command rescinded the general order to shoot at the ground in front of the rioters, especially since radios would have been rare those days even at the platoon level.

At the time China was naive and didn’t realise this was a colour revolution attempt since the west were supposed to be all buddy buddy with China at the time, so China didn’t expect them to smile to your face while stabbing you in the back at the same time.

That’s why they didn’t even try to manage or spin the story, and western correspondents on the ground were universally amazed the Chinese authorities didn’t cut all communications before the troops went in. So they were able to go to work and do live broadcasts and whip up western public opinion into a frenzy.

In hindsight, it was clearly all done per the colour revolution playbook, and irrespective of what happened on the day, the west were determined to regime change China. The embargo’s after were just the consolation prize to slow down China’s rise while America worked on other regime change plans, which they have never stopped trying. Because with the fall of the USSR, China went from useful ally to final reminant of the conquered communist ideology, and next potential great power rival to the US, so absolutely had to go per US elites.

If America managed to bring down China, the Indians would immediately find themselves next on America’s crosshairs. It’s part of the American nature to fear anyone who can stand up to them and seek to destroy that which they fear.

I agree with the rest.

But I do remember satellite coverage was cut. This did not stop the western journalists from filming and then airing the tapes overseas.

True enough, the west has always tried to regime change those that they don’t like. Only problem with doing this repeatedly is that it only takes one failure to completely ruin things in their play book. And also to mention is that the last victim (Russia) isn’t completely down for the count and if anything are hardened by the experience and China isn’t quite as naive in the past.
the USA may be working on yet another plan to destabilise China but as of now, most of their actions are having the opposite effect (in that it is uniting the people like never before) while the west at large is falling apart due to their neglect on the most important things that make a nation work.
I only pray that when things does finally go out in the west that China, Russia, and other like minded nations use this opportunity to wipe out all 800 bases belonging to the USA along with crippling the nation so badly that they can get a real taste of the dark ages. Also take the time to hunt down all members of the elite to ensure that they get some serious justice as well. This is the only way to force the west to either mend their genocidal ways or to simply be exterminated never to rise again because what goes around eventually comes around.

Current stats:

A total of 10,260 people had been arrested in relation to the 2019 anti-extradition bill protests and the authorities had prosecuted more than a quarter of them as of April, according to official figures.

Of the 2,608 people who have been prosecuted, 750 were charged with rioting. Other charges for those who have been arrested included illegal assembly, wounding, common assault, arson, criminal damage, obstructing police officers among others, the latest police figures showed.

As of the end of April, 715 people have been convicted, 277 were bound over and four were granted care or protection orders. Charges have been dropped for 51 people, and 224 were released after being cleared of their charges in court, according to the figures.

Still 7500 people are in backlog, it will take a few years to go thru all of them. I imagine it is not a good feeling to wait for your fate for that long.

Only a few hundred in jail?????

What an absolute disgrace! This failure to jail separatists shows complete contempt for the One Country, Two Systems policy.

Xi Jinping should order Carrie Lam to invoke the colonial Emergency Regulations Ordinance and JAIL THEM ALL IMMEDIATELY.

Hong Kong must jail every single of the 10,260 traitors. They must be kept in jail until America removes all sanctions on Huawei and Hong Kong.

That kind of overreaction is exactly what the traitors and their American puppet masters want.

Due process should be followed and besides the wait is going to be very painful for these brats any ways. Besides, think of this as a bit of a rubbing in the face of these protesters that at the end of the day, they have forever failed in their goals and have lost all chance of ever amounting to anything in relation to their so called democracy.
