Awesome. I hope all of them leave and live on UK's welfare. China can strip them of their citizenship the moment they get on that plane and forever blacklisted.

Lol. Can you imagine the panic it would caused to the British! Lol. And the xenophobia will be off the scale.

The key is China need to publically call UK's bluff and say anyone holding a bno passport are not considered Chinese citizens and is considered a British national. Essentially make them stateless if they leave HK. Anyone want to stay will get a normal chinese passport. Then UK will really panic, because they know with briexit, the moment those people land, they will not be able to go anywhere.

People and Chinese media shouldn't compare US protesters to Hongkong terrorists.

Hongkong terrorists are backed by Western intelligence agencies and Falungong. The whole movement was conjured out of pure fear mongering and lies and constant propaganda. They were used by corrupt rich, the Five Eyes and FLG so they can still have a foothold on the mainland.

US protests started due to black people can't take it anymore after hundreds of years of slavery and systemic, violent oppression by people who are simply insecure.

It's great that HongKongese will continue to remember the 1989 Beijing massacres. Carrie Lam's suggestion that the continued ban on gatherings of more than 8 people is about public health is a joke given that you can now go to religious services in a church, temple, etc in Hong Kong. All the evidence suggests that the risk of transmission of Covid-19 is worse inside than it is outside.

The "HongKongese" should worry more about them selves and how the city will maintain its own livelihood and biologic sustainability as it sinks into irrelevance, instead of what happened in a transformed China 30 years ago

Perhaps dwelling on the past reminds them of the "good old days" when they could feel bigger compared with the Chinese. Unfortunately this sense of false comfort can only be transient and fleeting... :(

Spend too much time sniffing around the trash bin of history and you might find yourself accidentally falling into it

The comparison isn't to mock US protestors. It is to point out the blatant double-standard that American politicians display on these two issues.

HK - true rioters & backed by the US & foreign interference; but US calls them 'peaceful protestors'
US - genuine protest & uprising; "THUGS"

I was just saying everything else equal. Say China had a migrant worker protest or black protest.

Then again, Chinese people don't kill black people for enjoyment. In fact, China is extremely safe, Chinese rarely murder each other, and China hasn't screwed with anyone since Vietnam. When 1 child policy was implemented, all minorities were exempt. Affirmative action was everywhere. Special accommodations like Halal food were provided for Muslims in the military.

Hongkongers said they were willing to die but it doesn't seem like it cuz no one died. I guess deep down they knew they don't want to sacrifice themselves for the West.

Interesting. I thought that the Chinese policy of non-interference in foreign affairs was just an expediency China employed during a critical period of its rise, clearly it has much deeper ideological and cultural roots than that. I give both your opinions their due consideration, so when you both agree on something I don't then I should at least re-examine my position. Since as a practical matter China doesn't have much ingress into America - it can't even appeal to segments of American society like Russia can appeal to fellow white Christians - this issue of the role of outreach and mobilization of foreign populations in Chinese foreign policy isn't really a hill I want to die on at the present time, but I will definitely give this matter more thought.

when you meddle in other countries’ affairs, you bound to support one faction against other factions, which means you risk getting dragged into other countries’ messes
