Hong-Kong Protests

And US politicians have come out to rebuke the NBA for denying the freedom of speech of the Houston Rockets GM which they haven't done.

Look at how the anglo journalist blocks him from getting in the building to get beat up...

Don't credit that conspirator to be a journalist just because he holds a big camera, and it looks like he was taking pictures of the pretty woman who helped pick up the banker's glasses, he's just jealous.

You mean China hasn't learned to incite unrest in other countries? In general, yes, but there are three other factors:

Firstly, China is a young lion and a young lion's strategy is to focus on itself and grow into its potential while the USA is an old lion and an old lion's strategy is to sabotage others since its own growth potential is limited. They both reap more rewards with their differing strategies respectively.

Secondly, the countries that oppose China in favor of an American alliance are generally well-established nations with a tradition of wealth fearing the arrival of a giant that may disrupt their world order. There is very little potential to cause rioting and unrest in these stable and rich countries with firm identities (unless they do it to themselves like France) completely opposite to Hong Kong.

Lastly, China is able to gain allies without inciting unrest or using military action, which is a higher level of operation. China has been peeling away the allies of the ROC one by one (I think 2 last month) with completely peaceful means.

PS. Do make sure you've seen the article I added to my last post. You might not have since I edited it in after the other parts were posted.

A major qualifier is that inequality within countries are a common major issue among many countries, as well as the risk of or actual declining quality of life for a large proportion of people, countries that manage these problems well will be less susceptible to internal discord regardless of whether or not it is manipulated by foreign forces.

@AssassinsMace @PanAsian What is the identity of the foreign journo who blocked the JPM Banker guy ? His employer ? What agency does he work for ? I think this guy is a lot more than meets the eye. Very curious.

NBA says it backs free speech after Hong Kong tweet furore, downplays Chinese-language statement

I don't see how the South Park article is relevant to this thread.

I will be editing the original post to remove that link, as well as to edit the obnoxious formatting. Of course the posts which quotes your unedited post will still show what you originally wrote but it's a matter of principle.

If there is any silver lining in this shitty mess at all, is that things might have finally hit rock bottom, now it can only go up haha... I wish.... However the social divide it causes is not going away in near future, and make no mistake the perpetrators will draw this out for as long as possible, and HK government might just be dumb enough (high possibility) to give them a hand.

Your saying about deconstruction do ring true to me. Hong Kong is held back by it's real-state situation, a handful of corporate have absolute stranglehold on the market and I am forever perplexed that no politician (or rioters) ever spoke out against them, go figure.... So yes, if Hong Kong were to bounce back at all there would have to be a fair bit of deconstructing and reconstructing, such an undertaking is for sure out of the realm of possibility for our dear Hong Kong government, we'll see if CCP has the stuff for it.

You know what is suspicious? Local media is overwhelmingly supportive to the rioters and anti-government, while this maybe a simple case of sentiment, one must also note that those media are owned by those very realstate Tycoons I'm talking about. Makes you wonder where is their place in all of this.

Actually the CCP and some pro-government HK politicians have definitely talked about the need to address the unaffordable housing situation and various objective ways to do it. The anti-government politicians have also mentioned the topic but only as an excuse to suggest policies that target pro-China native villagers in the New Territories. As you said the rioters have not mentioned it, however their conspirators do use it to excuse the destructive behavior but do not offer solutions. What you say about the local rioter-friendly media is superficially partially true but is ultimately a minor factor in the unaffordable housing issue as it is so well know and other factors are such juggernauts i.e. as investment vehicles for all stripes, major government revenue source, etc.

A very proper priority. It is the CCP which (largely) unified China. Define China without the CCP and you'll have to leave Tibet and Xinjiang and even Mongolian Autonomous region out of it. The party designed and defines the constitution that shall prevail over the entirety of territory under its direct control. Any other questions ?
are the Chinese destined to become Communist society? (I assume you Xs. are well-versed in Marxism so I don't need to define like the highest stage of social development etc. actually I don't know the line in English exactly myself)

for instance Bolsheviks during Brezhnev times believed the U. S. S. R. represented сверхцивилизация = super-civilization (or something like that)

There is literally a global property bubble at the moment and it is probably the hardest one for any political party to deal with.
In the first instance, property is seen as a relative safe haven; like gold, to put money into, when other markets become volitile.
If a Public company goes bust, then the shares become worthless and every penny spent is lost. If Property or Gold values drop, you still keep the physical asset, which is why both are the best collateral.

Property however is a unique proposition. For a property Investment./Development corporation the main risk with a crash is that the book value of the portfolio will no longer keep the firm solvent to service the debt secured against it. For the individual however its a lot more personal as the Property is not simply an investment, but also a home. If the market valuation falls too much then the property enters negative equity and the mortgage lender will foreclose and force the fire sale of the property.

The uncomfortable fact is that the most vulnerable house buyers are the youngest, the most recent and therefore, the ones with highest loan to value ratio.
If you cool a property market too much, these are the home owners you will hurt the most.
This will alienate both the young generation of homeowners and there parents and this is politically unacceptable to most political parties in most political systems.
Add to this that many of the political decision makers are likely to be substantial property owners themselves...........

various definitions are pulled, and possible consequences of using them are discussed, inside
‘We cannot tell the world Hong Kong grooms local terrorists’ says government source, with officials wary of devastating consequences label might cause
  • Violence meets definition of ‘terrorist acts’ according to local and international laws
  • But government fears using designation would only make situation in the city worse and bring sanctions and financial penalties
