Hong-Kong Protests

Fear mongering article but I do really want more people to leave HK especially those in the education sector. Hong Kong is still overcrowded and the housing price is still increasing even in the pandemic and after the riot. Beside these brainwashed teachers are no good for Hong Kong anyway.

"His main motivation: “I don’t want my kids to keep being brainwashed and become patriotic zombies.”"

How does this guy think most country teach their own history? He prob still thinks western media never lies because it has "free press" or democracy are automatically good because people can elect officials.

Good riddance.

Has the central gov started identifying the suspects who started demonstrating in 2019?

So many years have passed, I am sure that the gov can use AI and its database of photos(passports/IDs etc) to find out who were the protestors and what positions they have now

Time for the gov to silently start bypassing them for promotions, put them at front of the firing list, enchance tax investigations/audits on them, and have the secret service monitor their communications.

If they are small fish then the Gov shouldnt bother, but if they are teachers, gov employees, media persons etc the gov should take the previously described actions on them

Self-deluded Hong Kongers can always find ways to justify the West and at the same time demonize China. They are not being called a lost generation for nothing. Hopefully, they would never return back to HK. Many Hong Kongers in Taiwan, Canada, and the UK would be forced to go back China after a few years due to deterioration of living standard.

Economic pain for individuals can manifest in political demonstrations and general dissatisfaction. HK has the least affordable housing market relative to income of any city in the world by a wide margin. At 20 times the median pre-tax income, home ownership is nearly impossible for a large part of the young population. Without homeownership, one can feel less committed to the general stability of a society compared to those with assets tied to a geography. There can also be a feeling of injustice.

It is not like Hong Kong is lacking land. 7% is residential (includes urban and rural housing) and 9% is supporting infrastructure. Most of Hong Kong is undeveloped land. There's an artificial restriction on housing development. Real estate families in HK have a great deal of influence. It is also carrying on the British colonial legacy of control on land development in Hong Kong.

Economic activity in Hong Kong is concentrated on a few industries. Those that cannot provide economic value in those industries will have a hard time economically. In a larger system those individuals can find work elsewhere, in areas where they can maximize their potential. It would benefit those in Hong Kong to have greater integration with Mainland China.

Blinken couldn't see the irony in what he's saying if it's comes behind and bites him on the ass. Talk about hubris, condescending, hypocrisy. This is "white man's burden" at it's best!

Let's release all those storm the white house on Jan 6th first before you start to lecture others and demanding the release of thugs outside your jurisdiction.

It is CIA funded or MI6. The old lady should be prosecuted for not only helping the rioter but also having a private apartment and still keep her public housing unit which is illegal.

The police arrested an 18-year-old man suspected of rioting but absconded, and arrested another 62-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting criminals. The police arrested an 18-year-old man in a unit in Anda Village last night and seized a satellite phone and an electronic wallet prepaid card. The head of the unit is a 62-year-old woman who was arrested in a private residential unit in Quarry Bay. According to the police, the man was arrested on suspicion of participating in the riot in September of the previous year. He did not attend the hearing in April last year and was wanted by the court. After being arrested, the man has been brought to court and is currently under the custody of the Correctional Services Department. Preliminary investigation revealed that the two did not know each other, and the woman was instructed by the mastermind on the social platform to provide public housing units and everything needed. The police revealed that the mastermind belongs to a regional organization and has left Hong Kong last year. It is not excluded that someone is arranging for him to leave Hong Kong. Jason Chung, Superintendent of West Kowloon Region: "He has been at large for more than a year. Since April last year, this is not the only place he has been hiding in this year. The latest one has been hiding for three or four months. We found one. Satellite phone, this is very rare, and it cannot be ruled out that someone is going to help him smuggle.

Seizing their property is critical, many of them are on government housing, which needs the gov needs to acquire back, so the cockroach terrorists have not place to return to after being fed up living like refugees and being victims of hate crimes in the west.

Those in the middle class bracket are likely to sell their HK properties to fund their foreign adventures, but since they don't have employment upon arrival, they need to splash out 1 yr's worth of rent (this has been confirmed from accounts out of London). They will burn through their cash/savings rather quickly, and forced to stay in the west living a hellish subhuman cockroach-like existence as they cannot afford to return to HK - no property, no cash.
