I was going to put this on the coronavirus thread. But then I thought no! In fact it should be here given the reason bravado from the British government and members here stating adamantly that Hong Kong thugs with BNOs are welcome here in the UK.

Well you can't get closer to the government than our own very first Chinese MP (half Chinese anyway) experiencing racism first hand from non other than the elected representatives of the UK government.

So message to the thugs planning to come to the UK on their BNOs. Be warned!

From our MP Sarah Mei Li Owen.

‘OH YOU KNOW HOW THEY LOOK’: UK MPS CALL CHINESE PEOPLE ‘EVIL BASTARDS’ IN CORONAVIRUS RACISM DEBATE

RESONATE TEAM14 OCTOBER 2020

Parliament held the "first ever" debate dedicated to racism experienced by East Asian people yesterday

British Chinese MP Sarah Owen has revealed that UK MPs called Chinese people “evil bastards” amid a Coronavirus racism debate.

Yesterday, UK Parliament held the “first ever” debate dedicated to racism experienced by East Asian people.

Owen told MPs how she heard two unidentified parliamentarians talking about Chinese people saying, “oh you know how they look”.

Although it has been revealed that the MPs in question were not from the Conservative Party, the Labour MP nonetheless tore into the opposition.

“We’ve seen Tory ministers sharing Covid jokes with caricatures of a person in a Chinese pointy hat, bucked teeth and slanty eyes,” Owen said. “Yet this wasn’t addressed by the party.”

“A Tory council leader who said in a meeting that this was all because someone was eating undercooked bat soup in China. Again not addressed by the party.”

“A couple of weeks ago two MPs, sat in the same room as me, referred to the Chinese as ‘those evil bastards’ and ‘Oh, you know how they look’,” Owen aded.

“They were rightly discussing awful human rights abuse being carried out by the Chinese state. But this is an othering of an entire ethnicity that should have no place in society, let alone this House.”

“It was only in my teens though, that I felt my racial identity meant my safety was threatened. When a student brought a knife to school to stab me because she didn’t like it when races mixed,” the Luton MP continued.

“I understand the fear and frustration that many British East and South East Asians are feeling right now as racists add another powerful tool to their arsenal – coronavirus.”

Suga recently refused to appoint 6 academics to the Science Council of Japan. All of them hold views at odd with his government. The PM's role in the appointment process were supposed to be ceremonial and Suga was not supposed to reject nominees.

Suga probably just Abe surrogate at this point, even his (Abe) brother is the defense minister. Just hope that he won't be a gaffe machine especially towards Korea.

What did they put in your Jollibee? What you said is too reasonable, therefore it won't happen!

All jokes aside, the problem with HK is very similar to the USA. It has become too polarized. HK is still a very fashionable place, why else would Jack Ma and Pony Ma both buy the most expensive real estate there? Realistically, people in HK should be trying harder to find their place within China, and not trying to create a place outside of it. However, most of the so-called "pro-democracy" politicians keep drawing these hard lines and kick and scream whenever they feel they are crossed for theatrical purposes. A great example is the oath taking scandal, why did they use foul language? Did it serve any purpose for the people? No. Did it bring HK any closer to the stated goal of universal suffrage? No, if anything it made the situation worse.

There are not enough universities or spaces for mainlanders. There are not even enough for locals. The post secondary education level in HK is still really low (~30%). Politics aside, dollar for dollar Canada and Australia are bargains, especially if you consider many of their Universities are higher ranked than those in HK and super easy to get into (relatively speaking).
Hi supersnoop,

Chicken joy sauce... hehehe...

Well its for HK youth to decide, for President Xi to announce it the prospect that it can happen is pretty high. I'm pretty sure a small minority are brainwash and you know kids, once you put them in a new environment they will adapt quickly.

However, most of the so-called "pro-democracy" politicians keep drawing these hard lines and kick and scream whenever they feel they are crossed for theatrical purposes.

Its a new hybrid war that the US is using, instead of sending in well armed troops , they will send umbrella warriors instead with an extra eye patch to booth.

My dad, who is HKer (and US citz), is going to vote for Trump, only because of his anti-China policies.

Really, this proves that HKers are clueless about politics.

a) Trump is going to rape our Chinese-American asses if he is re-elected, and he won't tell the difference between a mainlander and HKer.

b) Trump's policies is what got HK stripped of it's special status. Cut your nose to spite your face?

c) Trump abandon HK after it's usefulness ran out, and HK is the ultimate loser in a China-US cold war.

d) "But White people save me!" complex needs to die. China should stamp out West worship in HK.

"So if the Canadian side really cares about the stability and the prosperity in Hong Kong, and really cares about the good health and safety of those 300,000 Canadian passport holders in Hong Kong, and the large number of Canadian companies operating in Hong Kong SAR, you should support those efforts to fight violent crimes," Cong said.

What's China going to do - start arresting Canadians for looking at police officers in a funny way? I have no idea what was going through that guy's head, but regardless of his intention he's implying that China really does engage in hostage diplomacy.

Because Canada always uses the safety of Canadian passport holders in Hong Kong as an excuse for their interferences and the Chinese envoy was pointing out that further riots would only be detrimental to their safety?
