The more people keeps on being the apologies for these thugs, the more embolden they become. To these apologies, they can absolutely do no wrong. They keep harping on about individual freedom, liberty and democracy. Well with these comes responsibility, something theses thugs and their apologies lack completely.

The more our members here painting a picture of victimised "peaceful freedom loving democrats", the longer this is going to drag on.

I know you're going to run away from this debate again. But this post is more for other members here to see how remove from reality of some of your posts.

The UK is actually one of the least prejudiced places in Europe and even does well on a global level (22 out of the 100 countries surveyed).

This tells me you're not from a Chinese ethnic background. Or experienced racism any time in your left. You have to rely on a survey by an UK establishment that obviously going to praise themselves. I and my black friends have experienced enough racism to put that survey to shame!

You're conveniently forgetting that one of the biggest issues with previous race rights movements wasn't just about where you could sit on a bus but whether you could vote. Apartheid South Africa didn't let non-Caucasians vote, except for a brief period when a handful of seats were allocated to people of multiple races.

WOW, Just WOW! you have no idea how the black people fought for their freedom in USA and South Africa. This one statement is quite disrespectful to the struggles of those people who fought racism all their lives.

More like an attempt to rig the election by turning voters into voting machine. It is ironic that the people who advocate for democracy and universal suffrage would restore to the most undemocratic thing by rigging the election and forcing people to form voting block.

It also shows the hypocrisy of the Westerners and their supporters and their media. There are always justification for whatever the HK oppositions did no matter how bizarre and undemocratic. I always find it funny how these same people would speak in a straight face and justify what the oppositions did but at the time would criticize Russia and many other countries as undemocratic.

Our friend will twist anything to suit his agenda. I mean, where in the world, is a "mock" ballots allowed to take place?

He won't be destitute, there is a reason why he left for London, he was always paid by them.

Nelson Mandela spent almost 20 years in jail. William Kuok (brother of Malaysia's richest man) was killed by the British in the jungle. Yet this guy pretends to be some sort of freedom fighter. What a joke.

Can't respect these people. They are all fakes.

Yeah the law bloke is now in the UK fighting his revolution from there while his comrades for in jail in Hong kong. Lol

Such revolutionaries. Remember the video clip at the Hong Kong airport fiasco where the thugs were chanting for the airport authority to switch back on the air conditioning! Enduring every hardship indeed! Che would be proud.

So Hong Kongers had no sympathy for what happened to George Floyd or the BLM protests because they think China was behind it all to take attention away from Hong Kong. I thought they claim the world hated China yet somehow China was able to orchestrate international protests that Hong Kong protestors can only envy...

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he has signed off on an executive order stripping Hong Kong of its special status under US law amid fierce tensions between Washington and Beijing.

"Hong Kong will now be treated the same as mainland China -- no special privileges, no special economic treatment, and no export of sensitive technologies," Trump told reporters during a Rose Garden news conference.

Trump also said he signed the Hong Kong Autonomy Act, which previously passed Congress and mandates sanctions on entities that violate China's obligations under the treaty which passed the semi-autonomous territory from British control to China. It further mandates the administration to impose sanctions on banks that do business with any individual who is designated under the act.

The actions are being taken over China's decision to apply a controversial security law to Hong Kong.

China's National People's Congress, the country's top legislative body, formally passed the Hong Kong security legislation in June. It was subsequently signed into law by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Activists fear it will be used by Beijing to quash dissent in the territory.

A 23-year-old man in Hong Kong was booked for terrorism and secessionist activities on July 3, becoming the first person charged under the new security law.

Hong Kong is a semi-autonomous region that has been part of China since 1997, when the UK handed over the former colony to Beijing.

Since last year, it has been mired in protests sparked by a move to legalize the extradition of people to mainland China.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong authorities also banned the singing of protest anthems in schools.

Not much, as the Americans never really differentiate MIC or MIHK when it imposed sanctions. It probably would make it difficult for universities and research facilities to procure sensitive technologies from the US.

There were talks about going after the HK dollar peg but was talked out by some senior officials in the US. SWIFT is another thing that the White House and Congress mentioned but it would hurt the US more than it would hurt HK. I don't think the White House really understand the implications of going after HK financial sectors and major banks.

Nobody, the US won a few battles in HK but lost the war. China was forced to impose NSL that it would rather not enact. HK was in a mess and would never fully recover from the riots.
