Anson Chan just announced that she would withdraw from civic and political life. Martin Lee criticized “The laam caau people, they haven’t got a clue,”
As I said before, protests and movement could force the central and HK government to make concessions. But any demands of independent or self-determination would back fire. Anson Chan and Martin Lee both understand the limit and the scope of what they could do. However, ever since the umbrella movement, the youngsters have hijacked the movement. Martin and Anson just don't have backbone to tell the rioters that defeat is inevitable. Now, they have to deal with the consequences. When you started a revolution that is unwinnable, then people would pay a price when they got defeated. Not sure If CIA felt the color revolution in HK is worth it for them and achieved its objective.
