Hong-Kong Protests

Can be useful for continued trouble making. Just look at Rebiya Kadeer leading the World Uyghur Congress after being exiled to the U.S.

Rebiya is trivial once she is out of the country. Actually, had she not left China, she would have been a rather large potential problem. She has a lot of connections in the Xinjiang's public and governmental system. She knows many important people, and could have done a lot more damage.
China doesn't really care what these people do in the West. China is not low and weak enough to care too much about those. In fact, the US is actually doing China a favor by taking in all these undesired "dissidents". With the US, UK and rest of the West as a escape route, these “dissidents” are much less likely to stand their ground and fight the death staying in China.

I agree, I don't think it's a bad thing if Britain offers these people refugee status or British citizenship. The more the better actually. I suppose it's a loss of talent but I'm not sure how faithfully these people would be serving your country anyway if they stayed. They're likely all going in the FIRE industry and would probably be the kind of people shorting their own currency from within in any kind of inflationary or capital flight crisis... not to suggest that China's own bankers are any more scrupulous.

I propose confiscation of all assets that might end up aiding terrorist activities. Those who flee would be prime suspects.

Then again, they're probably broke without CIA.

Just let them go, you still want HK in 1C2S as a free port... confiscating or arresting people will scare off talent and capital... just use the national security laws to get rid of the education system and transplant Chinese teachers and curriculum whole sale... maybe do some land reforms too to help HKers out

Also US and UK consulates probably dont need like 2k staff each

Exactly, in fact, I would take the UK decision as a subtle good will gesture towards China. If the UK and the US is willing to take these people, China would have much easier time cleaning those people out. They will just go the US and UK, instead of staying in HK and make a mess by resisting.

It's the British saving face. The protestors are crying for their master's help and they're doing nothing for their loyal subjects. How does that look for those that hide behind human rights and the rule of law? The British aren't going to take them all. They'll take a token few so they can say they did something. Why are Southeast Asian refugees found all over the US. It's because they didn't want those refugee communities all together in one bunch where if they became citizens and voted, they would be able to affect local politics. 2-3 million Hong Kongers is a not a good prospect for British democracy. The communists in China know to keep the population apolitical as possible hence why they're reluctant to stoke nationalism amongst the Chinese because that can easily turn against them. The West charges China is exploiting nationalism right now. You know what nationalism is in China to them? Sweden just whined about the Chinese violating the human rights of the Swedish people. How? Because a Chinese official dared to respond to a swipe on twitter by a Swedish official about China. Their free speech is being violated because China daring to respond back might deter future Swedish insults on China for fear of being insulted back. It never happened before. They're use to insulting China without resistance and they're horrified that China said something back. So what do you think the nationalism in China they charged before this was? Daring to eat a bowl of rice and not a piece of bread? China's next step must be to take over the world by this aggressive act.

Absolutely. As my earlier post has shown, there's zero chance "Great Britain" will want to take any of theses thugs. At best, they will cherry pick a few like doctors, laywers and accountants. Etc. Otherwise the rest can stay in Hong Kong where they would be more valuable as a proganda tool to beat China with (human rights and continuous riots). As opposed to facing a public backlash from a xenophobic populace that has been wiped up by recent Brixit debacle!

Look at the photos of these thugs in propaganda value:

And finally, isn't annoying how the MSM can managed to make China the bad guy, when in over 150 years of British rule, no democracy was ever mentioned, let alone allowed. And a "national security" known as special branch was in force at the later part of British rule to enforced....... colonial rule! That's pure deception at work.

And the BS still continuing today. Look at this video from the "impartial" BBC. There was no attempt to hide the fact this wasn't even a even-handed interview. Just one speaker (patten as aboce) was able to put his views forward, and was worse the interview was mentioning Xinjing and everything "bad" about China. From human rights to Taiwan. From Xinjing to secret state, from anti-democractic to bullying. Etc. Talj about throwing everthing bar the kitchen sink at China! Isn't she supposed to be giving a impartial interview? But she sounded like a British government mouthpiece!
