H-20 bomber (with H-X, JH-XX)

Grassroots newest release drawing from weibo. Yes... it's very simple and almost child like drawing this time unlike his usual very skillful nice CG drawings.

If it was from someone else the picture will not even be worth posting, but since is from GrassRtoos that's what make this drawing even more intriguing and authentic. Could this be the outline of the mysterious HJ-XX we all wanted to see?

Does this "Grassroots" guy have a history of churning out accurate drawings or is this another fanboy's attempt at armchair aeronautics?

Given the phrasing of Jaybird's posts, I imagine he must have some kind of past credibility to his name...

The question we should be asking, is what kind of past history he has?

Grassroots (草根) is not just another fanboy, I thought you guys should remember his name by now. The most recent leak from him is the PL-10 successful testing on J-10C and PL-15 successful tesing on J-16 news.

His got numerous CG drawings that almost spot on compared to the real thing before it came out. Another example is the Divine-eagle. I believe the J-20 before it came out as well.

Oh, he's that guy, okay.

anyway, the persistent popping up of this aircraft's shape over the last few years makes me think it may still be under some kind of development. Its distinctive wing and tail configuration reminds me almost of the canard/delta/twin tail configuration of J-20 back when it was known as J-XX in the mid 2000s....

Actually, a quick search back shows he did those other JH-XX CGs posted a few months ago as well... so I'm not sure why he's suddenly posting a line drawing instead.

Which is why I'm all the more skeptical regarding this line drawing.

Could this mean it's closer to be released to the public atleast some blury pics soon? If not why would he release such a simple drawing at this time?

I think we should be focusing less on the drawing itself and more on the credibility of the individual. If the guy has come out with CGIs in the past to reflect his own speculation and was clearly understood as such, that does not necessarily dampen his credibility towards "actual claims".

That said I'm not up to date at all as to what the actual situation on the chinese boards are, so I can't make any of my own self informed judgements.

For the line drawing itself, the question that should be asked is why would he post a simple line drawing of a plane that he had done much more impressive CGIs of in the past as well?

Maybe... One reason I think, could be that the CGIs before were too impressive and colourful to be taken seriously (regardless of their accuracy to the real thing, if it even exists), and by posting line drawings it may drum up more hype.

Is this guy accepted to have some insider knowledge, or is he mostly known for his drawings?
