A re-armed Germany is good for China and the world. It will be resurgent, more confident and have higher nationalism. It will be more likely to start acting on its own interest rather than act as a US vassal. It will start to demand more say in the affairs of its neighbours and nationalist may bring back old grievences of loss of land against the likes of Poland. It will start to create fear and resentment among its neighbours too. Eventually leading to the breakup of the EU and nato alliance.

Don't forget the old adage. Nato was designed to keep germany down. If germany rises up, nato is done.

Raising the defense budget like this is utterly idiotic. The way you're supposed to do it is to look at the kinds of challenges and requirements your military needs and to compare it to what it currently has. Then there should be an examination of what's required to get it from where it is to where you'd want it to be. This should cover everything from R&D to procurement to increasing personnel numbers and so forth. And only then should the government be trying to figure out how much money to spend to make it happen.

What Germany is doing seems to be figuring out the budget increase first, and then trying to justify it afterwards. Unless this is just charity work funnelling money to German defense companies, most of this is going to be a waste of money.

No.

If anything Germany sends too much money to the US MIC for pointless things. Like buying Patriot instead of SAMP/T.
SAMP/T wouldn't make any sense for Germany at all. It has very limited anti ballistic capabilities.

Germany has always been using Patriot. However, 2 new versions of Iris-T are in development to partially replace the Patriots.
Iris-T XLX with a Range of 80km and an Alt. of 30km.
And HYDEF against Ballistic missiles and hypersonix threats. It will have a range of approx. 100km and reach an alt. of 80km. It's similar to Sm6.

Germany also purchased Arrow 3 Missiles from Israel against exoatmospheric threats such as ICBMs. Arrow 4 will also be purchased to have an additional layer between HYDEF and Arrow 3.

Below these long range systems Iris-T SLM and SLS are being purchased for aereal protection.
