I thought this was going to be a meme last year but its really happening. They're messing with the periodic table now in Ukraine and renaming the element Moscovium (named for the oblast the discovering team was located in) to Ucrainium.

And no this isn't one of those old table before the element got the current name. Prior to getting the Moscovium name it had the placeholder name "Ununpentium".

Japan has Nihonium. Russia has Ruthenium, Moscovium and Dubnium. The US has Californium, Tenneessine and Americium. France has Gallium and Francium. Germany has Germanium. Poland has Polonium. Even India has Beryllium and Indium, although both are indirectly named. The craziest being Sweden, with 4 elements named after ONE village - Yttrium, Terbium, Erbium and Ytterbium.

So when it is going to be China's turn??? Sinonium? Beijinium? Shanghassine? Guangzhonium? Wuhanium? Chongqissine?
