Alright, you guys, you've won me over! I'm hyped!

In the next three days Nancy Pelosi dies. If she doesn't die, it doesn't count. If she's not dead, it doesn't count.

LET'S GO!!
Stake me in as well, if it doesnt end up getting "hot" in August 2022 between China and US (as in someone killed or some plane shot down, ship sank, nuke go off, etc) I will voluntarily leave the forum in shame. Im this sure that its for real this time, this feels just like right before the Ukraine thingy... its happening folks , I just hope the forum stays online and there is not malfunction of Internets of power grids or a blinding white light

If something does happen this forum would probably get banned.

this deployment may serve as a warning to Pelosi's potential trip to Taiwan, that China will retaliate by escalating in the South China Sea
TBH, China should take the Taiping island in the SCS using this opportunity.

USS Ronald Reagan's position is known, PLAN has a 052D and 054A shadowing her:

I guess no more visit to Vietnam anytime soon.

Unless they fly her in on the backseat of F18 like in the latest topgun movie or that stunt Boris Johnson recently pulled
She has other options which will defy any Chinese interception:

Trump just said something like this during a radio interview, and I agree: if she doesn't go, it shows weakness; if she goes, it shows stupidity.

If you're in Xi's position how do you exactly square your perceived inaction with your desire to seek/stay for a 3rd term?
What's to square? If I were in Xi's position my only concern would be to advance my country's interest. I would go to the Vice Chairman of the CMC and ask him if China's forces were ready to 1) Clear the US out of the western Pacific, and 2) Make sure they can never again establish a presence here. If his answer is yes to both and with acceptable Chinese losses, I would order him to open fire. Simple as that, that's my only criterion.

Xi seeking a third term is about far more than Taiwan. It's about making sure Chinese development is on track to transition from a peripheral producer of cheap plastic knick-knacks to the wealthiest and most technologically advanced economy on Earth. Taiwan is a footnote; so long as they stay in their box, they'll be dealt with when the time is right.
I have read from various sources inside and outside of China that one of the alleged reasons for him seeking a 3rd term is to deal with the Taiwan issue so as not to pass on that mantle of responsibility/burden to the next generation of leadership.
Yes, resolving this during Xi's tenure would be nice, but be careful how you parse "pass on the burden". It would be unacceptable to pass on to future generations a hopeless situation, but not only is it acceptable to pass on a balance of power that's shifting more and more toward China, it's preferable. You're not passing on a burden, you're passing on the glory to them. You're foregoing it for yourself and passing it on because that's what's in China's best interest.
