The boys at Lock-mart already have a page on there site for the “F21” note of course that F21 was what the Israelis and US designated the Kfir.
Externally It’s a block 70 series F16V based package the only obvious change being the Probe and Droge Refueling probe.
Internally it has the wide angle display based off F35. It also has a towed ALE decoy or something like it.
Like most of the modern four point five gens conformal fuel tanks.
Clearly some form of Sniper pod.
I am a little let down that Lockheed Martin hasn’t resurrected the DSI inlet on these late block Vipers. It would help with the RCS and was said not to effect the performance in a nagative way.

DSI inlet would not make that much of a difference in RCS or detection from modern radars. It's not like it'll go from a basketball to a ping pong ball. If it's a new built sure but since the airframe is essentially the same right from the beginning it doesn't make much sense to totally redesign the inlet with DSI which then requires additional R & D, testing and time to delivery etc.

I agree. Say the F-16 in its present RCS (1 m2) can be detected at 100 nm. A reduction in RCS to 0.5 m2 would mean a detection range reduction to 84 nm. Money is probably better spent on EW features.

It was only a test bed use for the F35 DSI’s the main advantage in theory would have been weight reduction. But as I have had more time to think on it. I realized that the addition of the chin mounted pods like Sniper and Legion basically required the current intake.

An old article on the DSI testing with F-16 as testbed for the JSF program. Besides weight, the DSI did improve the F-35 RCS.

Northrop Grumman Gets Funding for Hundreds of F-16 Radars
Northrop Grumman will build hundreds of active electronically scanned array radars for the F-16 fighter jet under a Dec. 19 contract worth more than $1 billion.

The contract covers work on up to 372 radars through May 2027. It modifies an earlier award to finalize the funding.

AESA radars like Northrop’s APG-83 are used to find and identify targets.

“The greater bandwidth, speed, and agility of AESA radars enable fighter and legacy aircraft to detect, track, and identify a greater [number] of targets, faster and at longer ranges, and to operate in hostile electronic environments,” according to Northrop.

The radar is a “fifth-generation fighter radar capability for the fourth-gen aircraft,” the company said.

Jamming System Upgrade Supplier

A competition has opened between L3Harris and Northrop Grumman to upgrade the self-protection jamming systems on hundreds of U.S. Air Force F-16s.

L3Harris’ Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare Suite (Aidews) and Northrop’s ALQ-131A have been selected for a rapid prototyping process that will determine the upgrade supplier for the Air Force, both companies have announced.

The selection for the Other Transaction Agreement rapid prototyping program means the Air Force is keeping an open mind regarding the F-16’s self-protection upgrade, even though L3Harris has selected the Aidews as the baseline electronic warfare (EW) system for Lockheed’s F-16 Block 70 configuration for export customers.

In January, the Air Force released the first details of the acquisition strategy for the F-16 EW upgrade. The new system should include a full suite of passive and active subsystems, including a digital radar warning receiver, self-protection jammer and towed decoy, according to the Air Force. Along with the radar upgrade, the improved self-protection system should help keep the surviving F-16 fleet relevant for combat through 2046.

A number of airforces around the world are currently upgrading their existing F-16 fleet to the "V" standard which comes with it the air-cooled APG-83 AESA radar. There had been numerous speculations regarding the new radar range performance because of cooling capacity limitation. Air Force magazine Sep 2018 edition may even have suggested indirectly that its performance is inferior to that of the APG-80 liquid cooled AESA radar installed on the Block 60 (rated to have a range detection in excess of 110 kms against a 1m2 target).

Whilst there is no reliable number published to-date, the APG-83 range performance may be inadvertently leaked from an unclassified 2018 document pertaining to the Slovakia acquisition of its tactical fighter.

A detection range of 160 km against a 2m2 target translates to a 135 km detection range of a 1m2 target, This is clearly better than the detection range of the APG-80.

A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-16 aircraft crashed near Shakarparian, Islamabad on Wednesday during rehearsals for the March 23 parade, an air force spokesperson confirmed.
Wing Commander Nauman Akram was martyred in the crash, said security officials.
Rescue teams rushed to the site of the crash while a board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters to determine the cause of the accident, the statement added.

The statement, however, made no mention of the pilots of the aircraft. “We are ascertaining the losses,” a PAF spokesman told Reuters by phone.

Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz said officials from the Pakistan Army and PAF have cordoned off the area and will conduct any further rescue operations.

Shakarparian is a hill in the capital, located near the Zero Point Interchange.
