From Aero India ... it's now officially no longer the LCA Mk. 2 but the MCA.

How "official", or confirmed, is this design? I understand it's just displayed at Aero India 2019.
People at DFI are already talking about first flight at 2023, with 4 prototypes. Given that timeline, this new canard, and the ambition of same capability as Rafale (let's give it credit of doubt for now), its design supposed to be finalized now. Isn't it?

Interesting to say the least.

Lockheed unveils new F-21 fighter jet configured for India

NEW DELHI, Feb 20 (Reuters) - Lockheed Martin offered India a new combat jet, F-21, on Wednesday to be made locally, in a bid to win a large military order worth over $15 billion.

The U.S. defence firm had earlier offered its F-16 fighter used by countries around the world for the Indian air force's ongoing competition for 114 planes to be made in India.

But Lockheed, unveiling the plan at an airshow in the southern city of Bengaluru, said it was offering India a new plane configured for its needs.

"The F-21 is different, inside and out,” Vivek Lall, vice president of Strategy and Business Development for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, said in a statement.

The company will build the plane in collaboration with Tata Advanced Systems, the firm said.

Lockheed is competing with Boeing's F/A-18, Saab's Gripen, Dassault Aviation’s Rafale, the Eurofighter Typhoon and a Russian aircraft for the air force order. (Reporting by Sanjeev Miglani; Editing by Muralikumar Anantharaman)

Tyrant King
The boys at Lock-mart already have a page on there site for the “F21” note of course that F21 was what the Israelis and US designated the Kfir.
Externally It’s a block 70 series F16V based package the only obvious change being the Probe and Droge Refueling probe.
Internally it has the wide angle display based off F35. It also has a towed ALE decoy or something like it.
Like most of the modern four point five gens conformal fuel tanks.
Clearly some form of Sniper pod.
I am a little let down that Lockheed Martin hasn’t resurrected the DSI inlet on these late block Vipers. It would help with the RCS and was said not to effect the performance in a nagative way.
