The other side of the story is Hungary, where Orban has embraced China and refused to stop buying energy from Russia.

The largest one is the CATL investment. That's the largest one in the history of Hungary.

This one is a little smaller. I have actually not heard of them before

And of course, EU is squeezing Hungary over trying to take care of its own citizens.

If the EU kicks out Hungary all of these investments will be pointless.

Why would it be pointless? When such nuclear action against Hungary will also equally have a very negative affect against the EU as an institution where persistent arguments against it will essentially be made true that those unelected Gaylords do want to usurp the will and votes of every sovereign EU countries if anyone country tries to do away or against their cultural, social, political plans.

How many government have $1 trillion? You clearly don't understand how fragile the financial and banking system is. Before long, we are going to see sovereign debt issues again like back in 2010.

Perhaps only China and Japan ... and of course the US with the printing machines working 24/7 ;)

Hungary has been chosen because it is in the EU. You get direct access to Germany & France with eastern European wages. If Hungary gets kicked out it would lose that and it'll be no different to exporting from China directly.

It's going to be very tough for Orban to stick on the path he has chosen. The EU (ie America) have a lot of leverage on him.

True. But, that control and context pretty much applies to every country that's allied with the U.S. but due to the democratization of media through the use and access of social media like FB, Twitter, Instagram, and now Tiktok the control that U.S. enjoyed in the past has largely been rendered increasingly ineffective which is also why American government has been busy labeling alternative voices as Russia, Chinese disinformation which is quite disingenuous and laughably hypocritical when the Americans has been doing disinformation, and misinformation for decades now.

Why do you think we see another ridiculous term like "Electoral autocracy" as if to idiotically suggest that the voices of the democratic majority must be set aside to the voices of the loud obnoxious minority in order for any country to be considered true democracy...If this label isn't anti-democratic and retarded I don't know what is. People, in western countries, especially in western leading EU countries continue to suffer economic difficulties then the voices that's being suppressed, ignored will inevitably gain a foothold to these masses which would push them to create chaos/instability if their economic discomfort don't see any improvement in the coming year or two. People's patience in these countries that have been used to a life of relative comfort aren't unlimited.
