China has iron ore reserves. The issue was that it was economically infeasibile to mine it. However as another member pointed out, recently , iron ore prices have dramatically increased thus allowing China to undertake such mining
China's "import dependence" on many things is because Chinese believe - correctly - that the lowest form of economic activity is exporting food and raw materials. It is better to reserve your own materials as long as possible and import from others as much as possible.

In fact China is already passing the costs down to end customers and exporting inflation. There is no alternative to China so customers eat the increased cost, just like tariffs. Sucks to be them, yet another own goal.

Another reason is also having a somewhat balanced trade balance, otherwise yuan will get too strong relative to other currencies thus hurting industrial exports.

China is doing well by keeping these resources to the ground. Maybe be add some more iron ore mines but thats it, try and import from other countries as well

I agree that one should not read too much into the recent coup in Guinea.
The US or the West may have certain advantages, but the market and money is in China for their products.
Also, the tell tale sign of US sponsored coups of recent years are usually the NGOs and the foreign backed opposition figures.
In this particular case, the coup leaders are more likely nationalists from military who are fed up with rampant corruptions and power abuses.

Why have relations between China and the US deteriorated so much compared to how the US had relations with the soviets?
Because who's changed this time is that the very notion of white supremacy is being challenged and to a white supremacist settler state like the US, this is anathema.
The anglos could pretend to be 'civilised' and have 'gentleman's rules on warfare' when it was a white european Russia they were facing off but when the prospect of defeat at the hands of China comes into play...the anglo will stoop to any measure to retain primacy.

There is definitely a racial aspect to the US' approach to China that cannot be ignored.

Also, China has a huge Iron Ore reserve, only Australia, Brazil and Russia have more than China

Iron isn't like oil, there's a limit to how much iron you need. It doesn't matter exactly how big China's reserve is, it only matters whether China has enough iron reserves to do whatever it is China needs to do. China is not going to be building masses of skyscrapers and highways forever.

Anyone get the impression that with the withdrawal from A-stan and removal of THAAD from Saudi, that the Anglo Americans are re-positioning all of their military to the Pacific for a world war against China?

The Anglo americans need a war to keep their country together as well as to prevent the rise of China
