If ever in doubt, Putin just needs to look at Erdogan and see what happens to a supposed American "ally" when their usefulness expires.

Turkey is an extremely, extremely special case. For both Russia and China, sometimes Turkey is worse than the UK, Australia, Japan and many other US vassals. And in the eyes of the Americans and many of its allies, Turkey has also repeatedly annoyed them.

As usual, Western pundits writing masturbatory fantasy.

Nixon approached China AFTER relations with Soviet Union deteriorated. Nixon did not drive any wedge between the two countries.

The truth is, Putin has been seeking Chinese support for years, and until now China had been unwilling to alienate relations with the US.

Nixon went to China when China had already broke away from the Soviet camp years before and even fought a brief boarder war during that split. It was really a low hanging fruit for Nixon to pick up and the payoff turned out to be huge.

Today China/Russia relation is in much better shape than China/US. My generation was very pro US in our formative years. Russians were very pro west before Putin came to power. To this day, Americans are still making fun of Russia as a supersized Saudi with nuclear weapons. To my generation, US hurt Russia order of magnitude deeper than China since 1991. And a recent Russian survey clearly demonstrates Russians today are far more positive of China than that of US. To me, that article represents a sense of desperation rather than strategic insight.

Russians in the Soviet era always thought that if they became democratic and free, the West would accept them, but they were wrong. The Soviet Union collapsed, and the Russians were still hated and despised by the West.

And the most arrogant and repulsive strategy that the author suggest is that in order for russia to improve relations with the us, putin must be removed and in order to achieve that russian officials must be bribed to betray him and finally a puppet must be installed (aka; navalny)

The US had its chance when Medvedev was President.
They blew it by turning Georgia into their puppet, trying to make then get into NATO, and starting conflicts on Russia's borders.
That made Putin get back on control and since then he got back as President, Medvedev lost considerable power.
If anyone replaces Putin they will likely have a worse relationship with the US than Putin himself would.
Just look at what is happening in Ukraine and Belarus? Which proper Russian leader would ignore that? It is happening right next to St. Petersburg and Moscow. If the US wants to restore relations with Russia they need to get the f*ck out of Russia's borders.

Another mental masturbation fantasy this time by the atlantic

"Above all, Beckley pleads with readers not to focus on the headline numbers of gross domestic product. China may well surpass the United States as the largest economy on Earth by the 2030s. China was also almost certainly the largest economy on Earth in the 1830s. A big GDP did not make China a superpower then—and it will not make China a superpower now, or so Beckley contends."

But at the very least the have started to come to terms that China will surpass us in nominal gdp within this decade lol

And this is my favorite

"On April 28, the Financial Times reported that the suspiciously delayed Chinese census would reveal a population decline from 2010 to 2020, the first since the state-caused famines of the 1960s. The FTreport was hastily disavowed by Chinese authorities, but in a strangely ambiguous way. Whatever the census ultimately claims, and regardless of whether it is believed, the story points to two deep truths about Chinese society: It’s about to be home to a lot of old people, and trust in the state is very low, and for good reason."

western pundits loves bringing up China demographic problem, without realizing that the us whites will be minority in about two decades, and we all know how it will all go down

At least Han Chinese will always be majority in their own country

Free people but polarized, divided and hate each other guts, with no sense of direction is a burden not advantage

The US doesn't care about being minority white because North America was never their land to begin with. They know they pretty much lucked onto and genocided their way into this gigantic land of the US & Canada. The white homeland is Europe, and even if that is overrun, they still have Russia which is an even more a gigantic landmass. If China ever became minority Han it would be pretty much game over for the Han because there is nowhere else where they are the majority.

Well if you think that systemic racism now is bad in the us, wait until they become officially a minority, their whitelash will make south african apartheid look tame in comparison
