This shows that elections aren't the only thing that makes a country democratic . Democracy's primary goal has to be improving the lives of people. China manages to do that yoy.
This is an example of US softpower (which helps them)and propaganda (which affects their adversaries). Despite bombing the crap out of countless nations, killing millions of Muslims, sanctioning & overthrowing Govts across the world, US is still at 44%. Meanwhile China which hasn't done any of the above is at 38%.
Easiest reply to that is: "Spoken like a person who has never had a meaningful political conversation with a Chinese person in real-life before."Well the West would argue that's not a legitimate poll of Chinese because the CCP is putting a gun those people's head and you didn't see the 29% of the people get executed off to the side after answering the question.
This is what white people call rationalization.
I was watching I think was CNN interviewing some Columbia university economics professor talking about the competition between the US and China and he used how many of each others' students go to each others' schools and of course US students don't go to Chinese universities as a measure who's ahead and of course he claims the US takes China's best and brightest. I thought Chinese students that go to the US were all communist party members' children as charged. Aren't they a bunch of undeserving children of the elite of China? Chinese are an important part of US R&D. They do all the work then call them a spy and then steal all their work as claim it as American. This professor also used exports to claim China's economy for the past decade was actually anemic. It was the past decade where alarm bells were ringing in the West because Chinese innovation was exploding.
It is guys like Manchin that would define Biden policies. Biden needs to compromise with Manchin. Both Democrats and Republicans are going down to the road of no return. What we are increasingly seeing in US Politics is that Democrats are paying lip-service to "bipartisanship" as a P.R. move to convince the moderates/independents that "Hey, atleast we tried to reach out across the aisle to Republicans, but they are refusing us."
As Mitch McConell, Senate Republican minority leader has said, he will s are doing, whether it is from COVID stimulus bill, Infrastructure Spending, $15 Minimum wage, "Public option/M4A" for Healthcare reform, Green New Deal, the Republicans are NOT going to agree with Democrats on any details, even Biden's moderate policies.
So this bodes well for China. Biden will likely set his agenda on his own terms knowing it's impossible to get Republicans on board with anything these days, and he can accomplish a ton more with Executive orders that bypasses Congressional approval, esp. with issues on trade.
TLDR: "Bipartisanship" rhetoric is only for P.R. and show, the reality is, Republicans are engaged in full obstructionist mode, which Biden already anticipated. Biden will force his agenda on his own terms with or without Republican support.
No you can't.Easiest reply to that is: "Spoken like a person who has never had a meaningful political conversation with a Chinese person in real-life before."
You can even argue, they get all their news on China from Western media propaganda which paints a distorted biased view of China. Given the high level of distrust of US mainstream media by American public... you might actually convince some of them that there is anti-China bias in mainstream media.
