But China still needs to be strong in aircraft engines and biotechnology, in addition to semiconductors.
I do not really agree with that.

The most important point in year 2021, is to de-Americanize as much as China Inc. can, to design American parts out of their products.

The Americans have proven themselves to be unreliable. You cannot do business with people who do not keep their word.

Other countries, it is entirely up to them what they want to do, but looking the trade numbers, kind of clear what they are willing to do.

If those countries like Australia want less trade with China, that is their right.

Their reasons why? Who knows. Just chalk it up to stupidity or the mysteries of life sort of thing.

@PhSt The Chinese need to learn a thing or two from RT, they're sure know how to troll the West and make their intents obvious...LOL
I do not think that is a worthwhile goal.

If China is going to win, then the CCP would want is an economic victory, a technological victory, and a diplomatic victory.

A propaganda victory kind of does nothing for the above three. It is not easy for the United States to score diplomatic victories over China since all their stupid wars as condemned by President Trump, and American diplomacy may never recover from the previous leader in our lifetime.

My feeling is the America media is going to be more like the Indian media over time.

:D

Look at it this way, the CAI was in reality a diplomatic victory for the United States, when the Europeans might cancel it. That Europe does not want to or bother to listen to America is brushed over as being not a diplomatic victory, because when they will cancel it, it definitely will an American diplomatic victory, if the actually cancel it. More like they are plugging the holes to the dam before they finally get killed.

I believe the CCP assessed the situation correctly, the old bonds between the United States and Europe are toast.

Yup, the game in any crisis is to out last your opponent. Even if you beat them by 1 day, you still get to clean their house.

The only disruptor is Taiwan and how that plays out.
US is actually throwing Taiwan under the bus by forcing TSMC to set up shop in the US. After that happens then Taiwan would have less leverage vs the US.

So Taiwan is smart to try to gain something now while the major powers are still dependent on it

TSMC's ace in the hole was its expert work force.

The equipment and IP were not their to begin with. Shit, TSMC might not even be majority Taiwanese owned, while it might have the controlling interest.

It is only smart if they got something YUGE in return. What do you think it is?
