The author has too much wishful thinking and underestimate the rapid development of the Chinese aviation industry both commercial and military. In addition, being the biggest aviation country in the near future give China enormous leverage and potential. Any real threat to delay or derail Chinese aviation industry would only embolden the domestic industry and self-reliance.

The author of that piece is a chest thumping moron plain and simple.

The primary reason Chinese civilian aviation uses imported parts is for economic and certification reasons, with export potential also a factor.

America imposing a ban on civilian aviation exports to China will have the same long term impacts as it’s telecoms focused bans did. In the short term it may cause as headaches, but in the long term, it only serves to accelerate the pace at which China, Europe and the rest of the world develop replacements for American tech exports.

Once those new replacement technologies come online, American tech will be forever locked out and America will only serve to isolate itself and sabotage its own aviation industry.

Me too.

I never watched a political speech in its entirety.

Cruel and unusual punishment!

Change the channel to the hockey game already!

No matter the side of the isle, but of them are equally pathetic but I am interested to know, is Biden going to help those states that are hit by the extreme cold or not because if he doesn’t, well no matter what he says after, that is a human rights issue right there since really they talk about money spending on the military but nothing when it comes to the welfare of he people, maybe he should shave his ‘hairy legs’

@bajingan I'm really am puzzled why telegraph your policy publicly and expect a favorable response, just as Forrest Gump said stupid is as stupid does.
That’s because Biden’s primary concern and focus isn’t actually China, but rather American domestic unity and pandemic recovery.

In essence, both the left and right of American politics are using hatred of China to find common ground.

The Republican right are shouting from the sidelines for Biden to continue Trump’s confrontational policies, and Biden is acquiescing since that’s basically the only olive branch he can practically extend to the Republicans, so great is their internal divide and mutual loathing thus far.

As such, you need to appreciate that American policy on China increasingly has nothing actually to do with China other than to have a competition on who can bash China the hardest and try to bond over that. It’s the most crude, base and repulsive form of politics, but it does work. To an extent, and at great cost.
