That's just because it's just assumed to be covid. Remember nobody ever tested for the flu, we only ever went with symptoms, which happens to be exactly like covid.
But with amount of testing done during that period, symptomatic ones with flu symptoms who tested negative for covid would be treated as flu, no?

Well this won't end well at all, now we can't get an accurate picture of the pandemic's severity if it continues like this.

The new treatment uses the chemical Cepharanthine [千金藤素] (

) but it does not seem like this chemical is in wide use as medicine, it is still being researched. Also there are some websites selling it as a herbal miracle drug so treat any claims about Cepharanthine with skepticism.

So I did a quick search for Cepharanthine and in this website

Under this section, it links to a study for possible medicine candidates that can be repurposed for Covid19

Conclusions: Our pangolin coronavirus GX_P2V is a workable model for 2019-nCoV research. CEP, selamectin, and mefloquine hydrochloride are potential drugs for treating 2019-nCoV infection. Our results strongly suggest that CEP is a wide-spectrum inhibitor of pan-betacoronavirus, and further study of CEP for treatment of 2019-nCoV infection is warranted.
This study was conducted back in May 2020, so could they have done more testing on its feasibility as a Covid treatment and finally approved it for use?

A highly vaccinated population also makes the PCR testing less effective in detecting infected people.

My sister tested positive with the rapid test kit although the positive line mark is a bit blurry. Fortunately, all her close contact family members tested negative with RTK including me although I did feel the strange sensation in the throat and nose (for which I tested myself negative 3 times). All of us have been triple jabbed except for those who were too young to get the booster.

Sure, if we assume that, Ontario has a positive rate of what, 10%? So how does this support the flu being gone?
Sorry not sure about Ontario. in Australia the number of confirmed positive flu cases was only about 21,000 in 2020 flu season. In year before that, it was about 313,000 cases and over 900 deaths. Based on wats reported to be diagnoses at GP and other medical facilities. That's a massive drop in cases right before and after covid pandemic.
I can get the travel ban and lockdown, Masking and social distancing helped reduced the cases somewhat but do you mean the rest of huge difference is just the people with flu but not diagnosed as flu during testing?

Looks like the epidemic in North Korea was worse than originally reported.

Obscure febrile disease has been explosively spread and expanded on a nationwide scale since late April, producing more than 350,000 persons in a fever in a short time. Of them, over 162,200 were cured. On May 12, more than 18,000 persons in a fever have been newly registered on a nationwide scale, over 187,800 have been in quarantine and under treatment up to now and six persons including one confirmed to be infected with "BA.2" were carried away.
