There are Americans willing to let their own citizens die for coronavirus politics. You think they would care if Chinese die for their politics? So what if the Chinese are taking the vaccine before "their" approval. The worst situation is it doesn't work yet China has to wait until their approval before Chinese get vaccinated. They're worried about international distribution when they're claiming their vaccine is for the world and no one else's? They're the ones that want credit and that's what it's all about just like they bragged they were number one in handling outbreaks and with that they wouldn't have cared how many people got infected just as long it was done their way. I wouldn't be surprised that Brazil is being pressured not to use any Chinese vaccine so the West gets theirs out in the world first. Why would they care about a black market? It's not like they're looking to take the Chinese vaccine. And they're hypocritically accusing China of not releasing data on the vaccine trials. None of the Western ones have.

I think they were running things by the book, so were not looking to release results so soon. But with pressure from the way American companies have rushed ahead to report with the least amount of data they could get away with, it looks like China is being forced to also cut short their trials to stay relevant. It’s a fucking calamity to be honest.

I am beyond incensed that the Americans are not only being allowed to get away with putting political point scoring and corporate greed ahead of science, but that they are positively being applauded for it.

If the global vaccine efforts fall short or collapse, this would be why.

Doesn't really matter much when the infection in America is literally going up in the hundreds of thousands, a vaccine isn't going to save them from a horrible Thanks giving, Christmas and new year given that they haven't even come up with a proper plan to deal with the crisis since no one is united together in solving this mess. A vaccine is good for the stock markets but not that good in the reality that everyone is catching the virus in such large numbers that a vaccine isn't going to do jack

No, a vaccine is the only thing that can realistically save the west from the consequences of their own incompetence and wilful arrogance, which is still ongoing.

Indeed, the west is still making basically the same stupid mistakes with the vaccine as they did with their initial bungled containment fuck ups.

Rather than rely on science and just doing what needs to be done, political and financial considerations always come first with western governments, which come at the cost of the effectiveness of the actual response.

It is China who doesn’t really need a vaccine, and who would be least affected if the whole thing well apart because of how extreme the Americans have cut corners.

Oh a vaccine may be the only thing that can help them, but before and even after that, lots of people are still going to get infected and die and most likely things are not going to recover like they want to so badly. And the end of the year is still going to be a bad one since really, the vaccine isn't going to work fast enough during Christmas to save it for there own doings. China should be quite fine all things considered

One thing I've found strange is the how Phase 3 trials are touted as the end of testing and ready to roll out to billions.
For example: Pfizer announcing 1.3 Billion does for 2021.

Phase 3 trials involve less than 50000 people and it's been less than 2 months since any vaccine has started their tests.

Yet we've seen previously that it can take a sample size of millions AND years for a side effect to show.

So jumping straight from a Phase 3 trial to mass vaccination of billions seems irresponsible.

---

In comparison, Sinopharm is also in the middle of conducting Phase 3 trials.
Plus it has concurrently been running what you could call Phase 4 testing, with 1 million vaccinations so far.
That increase the sample size substantially AND the overall timeline to detect any longer-term side effects.

That is important once you start talking about the risk of vaccinating billions.

So arguably the Sinopharm approach is better, if you have no choice but to start vaccinating billions immediately.

So despite criticism of the Sinopharm vaccine being given to 1 million people so far, it actually is a better and safer approach.

So despite criticism of the Sinopharm vaccine being given to 1 million people so far, it actually is a better and safer approach.

And yet you hear people like Bill Gates babbling about Chinese vaccines not following the "gold standard".

In my book, a vaccine trial that has involved more than a million test subjects like the Sinopharm vaccine certainly comes nearer to follow the gold standard than a vaccine that has only 50,000 test subjects.
