Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

victims is one thing, but the whole procedure is another thing, and I have been stunned for two (?) days now by the difference between Central Europe (they try to locate every body sick with the virus -- in addition to closed borders, Police catching those not covering face etc.) and the US as in
"The recommendation reflects a "shifting from a strategy of case containment to slowing disease transmission and averting excess morbidity and mortality," according to the statement."

but my immediate concern is to wrap up my face in my wife's scarf (I possess one (1) mask for an emergency case) and go to work

Actually, when China locked down Wuhan, at first, I embarrassingly thought it was an overreaction. Now I'm just amazed how they acted so decisively and glad that the CCP has advisers better-trained and wiser than I am. Every step of the way, this virus led people all around the world to believe that the next step could not happen... until it happened. Any attempts to blame China, for any reason whether it be by subliminal naming or direct accusations, is doomed to end in humiliation.

Yeah, I thought the Wuhan lockdown was an over-reaction as well.
But now we see other countries implementing lockdowns because people aren't listening.

On a semi-related note, has anyone got news about private postal packages containing masks and other medical equipment being quietly seized by European governments?
I ordered two packages of masks off Amazon, one arrived on time last week. The other is scheduled for next month.

Can't say that I've heard of packages going missing at an unusual rate.

Based on what I've heard from other overseas Chinese, China is still actively blocking exports of masks.

I don't think so. I think Chinese manufacturers are all locked up in massive orders around the world.

This AN-124 just brought 25.5 million masks from China to Russia.

5.4 million masks, 40,000 coveralls, 60,000 protective visors and more than a million testing kits sent by the Jack Ma foundation to Ethiopia.

800,000 test kits and several tons of equipment and PPE on this plane going to Jakarta.

Extra bit of news:

Ex-PLA soldier and currently student has volunteered for trials of a new experimental vaccine against Covid 19.

That’s why I said I would be very interested to see if my amazon order arrives. If it does, then that is circumstantial evidence that if there is an interception programme running in secret, it is exempting big retailers like amazon. If so then that is massively discriminatory, but not really surprising since if Amazon were ‘loosing’ packages to customs en mass, they would know about it pretty quickly and can then rumble the whole operation with a single press release.
