Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

After almost three years of the pandemic, my community of over 1000 households has finally got its first confirmed Covid case. Nice record :) !

Wow... hopefully your community is fully vaccinated and boosted because they would have to entirely rely on it for protection against the virus since they don't have any natural immunity against it.

The "Doctor" continuing to spread the propaganda that the Covid virus got leaked from the Wuhan Lab. He was commenting on information released through the Freedom of Information Act and the findings of some person in the U.S. Senate. Hopefully, the Chinese authorities are not clueless about this sort of propaganda as this is a very serious allegation indeed.

If Covid is officially downgraded to endemic worldwide, there should be no reason Covid remains a pandemic in China alone.
This whack a mole strategy is just treading water until Covid shifts to much much milder variants where China's health care system can confidently handle it. So far, China has stellar performance in Covid battle on all metrics imaginable. We might see only a few more rounds of restrictions most likely, as Covid has already run its most destructive course, nearing its third anniversary. Maybe couple more years at most and China would exit out. Savings and investments steady, low inflation, productions are still chugging along, people are not dying off like flies. What more can we expect?
Hmm, it has been 3 years, yet covid deaths in western countries are still quite high, i really hope that eventually it becomes mild enough for China to open up, the alternative is coastal china getting economically punished long term just due to the sheer amount of overseas arrivals making covid zero close to impossible.

They need to administer local mRNA vaccines as soon as possible.

But then it has also been 3 years, why not mass roll out omicron specific vaccines? It doesn't even seem to be the case for western countries...

I think the situation NOW with vaccine is to prevent severe outcome rather than "infection rate." There doesn't seem to be any vaccine that is mind blowingly better. However, some scientist suggest maybe mixing different vaccines will have a positive effect on stimulating the immune system.
