I wanna say I am especially disgusted that Poonawalla fled India. This guy wanted to use his capital as a vaccine billionaire to accrue even more power for himself. Now his bid to become a vaccine exporter failed, and he can't even save his own country. And therefore he escaped India.
That's not the only disgusting part; notice the slavish reporting by the Times on Poonawalla's evident cowardice, disgrace and shirking of responsibility?
I'm willing to bet this fucker was old school mates with someone on the board of the Times. That's british nepotism for you, and the indians in the UK have mastered that game perfectly.

I'm running the numbers again and yeah, there's no way to stop the virus running its course in India unless there is a complete lockdown in India.

There's just not enough vaccine capacity available.

Vaccines won't help the current situation in India just mitigate a 3rd wave, that boat has sailed, its just more mis-direction by the BJP, they should be concentrating on saving lives and putting lock downs and travel restrictions in place to reduce/contain spread. Not grandstanding with online systems to book appointments for non-existent vaccines which over a 3rd of the population can't do anyway because they don't have internet access.

An unkind observer might conclude its just a cull of the poor, if not for the fact even establishment figures are dying in cars waiting to get into hospitals!

But the key is to get additional capacity up and running in China.
There's another 160-240 million doses per month already on the way.
Everyone else in the world is slow and have decidedly unambitious production goals.

So with that extra Chinese capacity, everyone in Myanmar and Pakistan could get a first dose within 1 month.
Then a second dose in the 2nd month.

China needs to be methodical with increasing capacity, it has little to gain and much to lose, the western press just blew past/largely buried their manufacturing issues

but you can bet if there's any fault with a Chinese manufacturer you'll never hear the end of it.

"Mamata Banerjee is set to be the chief minister of West Bengal for the third time after her TMC party won a two-thirds majority." (Emphasis added.)

"The incumbent chief minister’s party in India’s West Bengal state has defeated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party in state elections held as the coronavirus pandemic surged to crisis levels."
So does this mean Modi's BJP no longer have Parliament majority support and vote?

People who donated money to India just save the Indian government money to buy more weapons.
India has billions to buy weapons but needs $$$ from morons to buy oxygen concentrator for its people?

The US has kick-started the process to sell six more P8 maritime surveillance aircraft to India with the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency notifying Congress of the possible sale on Friday (30 April).

The Indian Navy, which already operates a large fleet of P-8Is, will get these submarine-hunting aircraft at an estimated cost of $2.42 billion.
