So here is another sports related article on a recent outbreak on the Vancouver Canucks hockey team
I like sports articles because they are less politically biased
Here's a few things I takeaway from it.
1. For all the talk about "government transparency", it seems like most of the information was discovered by the media rather than the government.
While I understand there are privacy concerns, this sort of information would be extremely useful to the public. I feel like people are trying to follow the rules, but other than "wear a mask, wash hands and use sanitizer often", what else do people ACTUALLY know to do?
There are the occasional "50 people infected at a wedding", but these stories have basically dropped to zero. Where is infection happening?
2. Following this, I recently read in Ontario, most outbreaks are actually related to the workplace. You are getting 30 - 40 people infected in factories, warehouses, etc. Yet we are shutting down things like hair salons which just make people confused.
As mentioned before, I totally do not understand why the government is not targeting companies like Amazon and forcing them to conduct rapid testing every workday (on their dime). I've been told that this precaution is helping Long Term Care homes reduce the number of outbreaks that occurred early on.
I'm really sick of fingerpointing. How is it possible that in a place as crowded as China, infections are minimal? The outbreak at the Shanghai airport, which quarantined 20,000 people (basically the population of a small town) was dealt with quickly and did not spread through the city.
