That's not really important. Every modern sub in the world are covered with rubber tiles in order to quiet the noise. That's just a standard feature.

No, the Houbei is only around 43 meters, and the Yuan is around 75 meters. What you are in fact seeing are two Houbeis that are parked end to end, opposite to each other, and with the camouflage, create the appearance of one.

Like I said, the Houbeis only look big because there are three of them clumped together. You can go to Google Earth to find Houbeis and Song/Yuans, and do direct measurement on meters on them. The Houbeis is around 43m, the Song or Yuan is about 75 meters plus, and in fact, they're even bigger than the Kilos which is around 66 meters, also measurable from Google Earth.

Crobato, on that "nice clear pic" of the song you posted on the last page, what are those posts on the bow? I've never seen them on any other sub before and they look very awkward.

They are wake sensors, and similar ones can be found in almost every submarine in the world, though some are neater than others.

Within the PLAN context, the wake sensor of the Yuan and Shangs are neater than the ones on the Song, indicating a newer design.
