Chinese shipbuilding industry

The one thing we don't hear a lot about China making is cruise ships but that is going to change.

A new shipyard is being built by state owned CMG just for that.



Europeans dominate on cruise ship building. Years ago there were plans to build a cruise ship on China.



Earlier this year, a small cruise ship made for polar expeditions have hit water. Its US owner looks to order 10 more from its Chinese shipbuilder.

This helps reinforce my thoughts that the merger is more like CSSC absorbing CSIC, victor eating up vanquished, rather than a merger of equals.

Hudong Zhonghua names its LNG carrier "Dubhe". Where the hell HDZ is building this while they are building their Type 075s?



China’s shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua has named its self-developed 4th generation liquified natural gas (LNG) carrier “Dubhe” at the Changxing shipbuilding yard in Shanghai.

The 174,000-cubic-meter vessel, set to transport LNG from the Yamal project in Russia to China, is the first of its kind among four LNG carriers made by the company.

With the lastest power system and tank devices, the 295-m long Dubhe is 45 m at the beam and can operate at a speed of up to 21 knots.

As one of the major shipbuilding subsidiaries of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, Hudong-Zhonghua has built China’s first LNG carrier and developed 250,000-cubic-meter LNG supertankers, as well as icebreaking ARC7 LNG carriers.

At the Changxing yard as the article says, so presumably on Changxing island.
