- Hudong Zhonghua delivered only 11 LNG vessels in 2025. China total delivered 15 LNG carriers. Korea meanwhile delivered 63 LNG Carriers in 2025 alone, >4x China's delivery.
- Hudong Zhonghua is fully booked for LNG Carriers until 2029, which means next slot is available only in 2030.
- Industry projections (GTT, and other non-Koreans) are for around 150 LNG Carrier orders this year.
- "Hudong Zhonghua is rapidly expanding its LNG carrier business, with the company opening a new $2.5 billion LNG carrier yard in Changxingdao, north of Shanghai, in May 2025, increasing its annual LNG carrier construction capacity from six to ten"
- Dalian, Jiangsu, CMHI Jiangsu are recent entrants in LNG Carrier business
- LNG carriers are the only vessel type where Korea, the world's second-largest shipbuilder, holds an advantage over China
- Beginning of the year has been strong for China in getting LNG orders, but they are capacity constrained, so Koreans expect people to come back to them in big numbers. (this doesn't mean Korea didn't get LNG orders, just that their market share declined, compared to last year when they had 90% market share)
