Micron pulled the same BS against JHICC that Intel used to bury the NEC x86 clones in the 1980s. Litigation.
The truth is most of Micron's capacity is in Asia, and their leading memory designs are also Asian. Micron bought these for peanuts from Taiwan, and Japan.
The US strongarmed those countries to sell their bankrupt DRAM companies to Micron for peanuts and not to Chinese investors.
The group opposing to Micron’s acquisition plan of Elpida for 60 billion yen ($769 million) argues that the deal grossly undervalues Elpida’s assets. It said Elpida is worth no less than 300 billion yen ($3.85 billion).
Information filed by Micron with the SEC shows that the Trustee will make its best efforts to ensure that Elpida will have at least ¥70 billion (US$897 million) of cash on its balance sheet after closing of the agreement with Micron.
Micron shouldn't be allowed to receive this ¥70 billion in cash in addition to all Elpida’s other assets. This makes it look as though Elpida is paying Micron to purchase Elpida.
The IP assets of Elpida are also included in the sale to Micron. The current offer ascribes no value to Elpida’s world-class asset.
The US thought this way they would prevent Chinese DRAM's rise. But China just hired the Asian engineers that Micron laid off and made their own DRAM designs.
Micron then sued JHICC for using "their" IP. Which Micron acquired for peanuts from a bankrupt Taiwanese company after the Taiwanese government spent a boatload of money developing it. Micron did not have a leg to stand on as the lawsuit shows.
Of course the video says nothing about this.
