According to Xpeedic's official website, in May 2021, Samsung Foundry certified Xpeedic's on-chip passive EM (electromagnetic) simulation suite on the advanced 8LPP (8nm Low Power Plus) process technology. The suite includes a fast 3D planar EM simulator IRIS and an automatic PDK modeling tool, iModeler. This certification enables IC design companies to accelerate their delivery of 8LPP designs.

I read today that Silicon startup Vally Sifive has developed a high performance 16-core risc-v processor. According to some analysts, this processor can compete with the latest designs from ARM.
This is phenomenal progress for a company created in 2015.
Is there similar work in China?
If I was in charge of Huawei, I would focus on Risc-v because the ban on ARMs by the United States and its allies will come sooner or later.

All China has to do is to fund it and pay Silicon Valley salaries. Most of the talents in the West are Chinese.
Correct this video also said that is the case. China does not lack talent but retaining talent and prodding overseas talent to return is a challenge But with better economic , scientific, living condition more and more are returning. In fact I believe this is the ace in china hand in their struggle against the hegemony of the west. China need to facilitate this talent and one of them is to implement Ethnic Chinese ID card.

Yeah China needs to lower housing prices, build suburbs, and pay US$500k+, otherwise they'll always struggle with talents.

Alibaba T-Head is doing a lot with RISC-V, but not sure if they have/had something to show this riscv summit.

Also need to liberalize the banking system. Right now it’s a pain in the ass for non Chinese citizens. Also need to consider the restrictions on sending money out of china. People may be willing to come to china to work for a few years or even decades, but many will plan on going back home at some point. Right now any money earned in China can only stay in China, except for a small amount allowed to transfer every year.

Yes, I followed Ali Baba's initiative but it was not really very thorough and serious. Research and development in this new design must be more advanced and why not collaborative between several companies such as huawei, oppo, xiaomi and others. And if this work is successful, it will be a great victory on the path to technological independence.

I'm not sure if can agree with that, T-Head has rivaled SiFive for years they usually switch with claims having designed the fastest RISC-V chips. XuanTie 910 design was also a 16 core cpu design the thing is as far as I know no one has seen those devices in the wild yet.

We won't know anytime soon maybe after 2023 we might get the first mobile Socs based on Risc-v people actually might want to use.
I'm more interested what all those Chinese GPU companies are doing a lot of money was invested in those companies 18 months or so ago haven't really heard a thing.

I heard Chinese society and discriminatory practice towards Chinese abroad makes it hard for ethnic Chinese to return, especially 2nd+ generation.
