Just because a company is located in Europe doesn't mean that the company is under European control. You need to drill down into ownership shares etc or key supply chain component.

The US has played a smart game over the decades and made sure they either own the company or own the supply of key components.
The Europeans need to make sure local companies are majority owned locally.

Chinese funds need to buy asml shares secretly.
Thats the dumbest idea I ever heard. ASML is based in Netherlands and it is using a lot of US IP. Chinese shareholders couldnt do anything (even if they managed to invest in such a strategic company..unlikely)

Forget it.

China's fault for being weak.

China shouldnt expect free handouts just by paying money. Time to develop your own tech

Maybe you are new, but even a beginner investor knows you can buy asml shares on the stock market.

Yeah sorry this is a kindergarden level thinking. Why then doesn't the CPC buy shares on Lockheed Martin (?) and get access to F35? lol

In order to gain any position of decision making in a company(whom to sell your products, control its operations, appoint personnel etc) you need to be vetted by the country's agency if the company getting invested is in a strategic industry.

Nobody is going to allow Chinese investors to get a foothold in ASML

The US already has regulations to make sure foreigners cannot own a majority of American companies without government approval.
