EUV and DUV are totally different . They can be developed concurrently.It's still lagging, this is fact. China can't even produce proper DUV machine let alone EUV and still want to buy it from ASML and Nikon. There are many other semiconductor equipment that still dominate by US companies like LAM research etc. And I dont want to talk about software that dominate by android and ios.
@Annihilation98 I wish India success as @BoraTas posted before Physics are the same whether you are in Europe , China and India. But as @Oldschool had mentioned they need to put one's money where its mouth is, dreaming of grand project based on a creaky infrastructure is a surefire for disaster. You need to have a solid foundation first and that will take decades to accomplished and they need to do that NOW ASAP before embarking on an ambitious project.It's still lagging, this is fact. China already got their ASML Nxt2050iEUV and DUV are totally different . They can be developed concurrently.
We will see soon this year China DUV system is a success or not. If not keep working on it. It just take time.
It take times to develope meanwhile buying from ASML allow them to wait for indeginous development
