@horse bro do you think Apple will lobby for more sanction...hehehe, From what I read, this monitor contain no US parts, the Chips is 45nm, maybe FAB by Huawei themselves and I'm thinking by 2024 all Huawei product is self sufficient Chip wise.
Nah Apple silicon is really a couple of years ahead of the competition. I don't hear or feel my M1 MacBook when I use it, couch programming has never been this comfortable

Maybe when huawei gets access to 5-3nm level performance and tsmc is still stuck on 5-3nm then apple will start to feel the heat from huawei. For now Apple's only rival will be Intel now that they have 3nm access at TSMC.

Laptop is a dwindling market.

Do you have a source for the chip info? Is it Huawei chip or third party?

@MortyandRick bro from Huawei central and an excerpt from the article dated Aug 13 2020 nearly a year and a half ago, the bold part indicated when the 45nm chip had been produced.

According to the source, Huawei will first begin with 45nm (nanometer) process technology that will be ready by the end of this year. Aside from 45nm, Huawei has also planned to build a 28nm manufacturing line.

Meanwhile, Huawei has not officially confirmed or announced such news via its official platforms but the work seems that this whole project is going behind the doors.

45nm and 28nm are good choices to begin for the Chinese tech giant but we cannot deny the fact that big chipmakers such as TSMC and Samsung already planning to build chips based on 3nm node. Therefore, Huawei must have to go through a long road and an R&D process particularly on the semiconductor section to achieve its manufacturing goals.

Thanks man.

I was just wanting to confirm that the chip in this monitor is a Huawei chip? If it is a Huawei chip, even if it's 45nm it's still a great achievement if manufactured by Huawei or a Chinese company using domestic equipment. I was just not sure that's the case

It would be a tremendous achievement if Huawei's first manufactured chip was 45nm
