Chinese Remote Weapons Station

The crab seems too big for infantry support if it's meant to travel in areas wheeled or tracked vehicles can't get through. The most important question is always going to be the power source.

There's video on the Chinese boards of a remote compact six-wheeled tank. I think it's Russian. I tried to find it on YouTube with no luck. I think China should make something like that. The animation depicted a rescue of a soldier injured in an urban warfare situation just using these remote tanks. It was depicted taking on MBTs, helicopters, and infantry. If someone could find it... I believe it was an ifeng video.

My opinion is that the "crab walker" will be slow (about human walking speed) keeping up with infantry.
Not that this is bad, it would still be handy. Maybe have it provide light fire support?
With the option of leaving it in areas already captured to prevent re-capture by the opposing force
And have the gun swappable, so diffenrent weapon can be swapped in depending on the need.
Still good to have, but more defensive in nature.

Think they should build something like Darpa's robot cheetah :D

Now a gun mounted on this thing running at 30mph through the bush against enemy forces, that would be scarey.
"Must kill John Connor" LOL
I disagree, at this point in time wheels and tracked are the better gun systems. The only way i really see a armed walking UGV is if its using a very light gun like a M249 or a Type 88 lmg max i can think of would be a lightweight medium machine gun like the Mk48, Negev762, maybe the Russian Pegchev those would allow movement and attack at speed.

Check my posts in the concept art thread. I think I have that video its from a Russian company trying to sell there concepts. The video however fails in a number of ways. It shows the platform making out tanks and choppers with a grenade launcher that would in reality require a ATGM and a SAM. The company is also responsible for another video I posted showing cargo containers used as helicopters.
The vehicle its self is to a degree realistic but the video shows it hitting far above its weight class.
For realistic concepts check out the BAE Blackknight UGV, the Ripsaw, the armed Mule from the FCS system. That's where we are at now.
Bipeds' and multi peds at this point in time are in efficient. Wheels and tracks are still the best we have. Perhaps in the 2030s we can see platforms like the Uchcoma series from GITS where you will have hybrid legs and wheels more efficient power supply, light weight and armor allowing UGVs to move at speed maneuver across obstacles and place heavy weapons on station but that's still cyberpunk scifi.

The research abstracts specifically stated a mountain gun (whether HMG or autocannon is up for grabs), so it'll either accompany light infantry or Special Forces in Tibet and Xinjiang, most likely, where you can't drive a wheeled AFV.

this seems to be a real heavy metal MG my money is a 14.5mm Machine gun with all the trimmings note the two smoke launchers

a fifty cal for sure likely based around 12.7x99 mm note the smoke grenade launchers and ammo feed.

This one here. Has my eye. On the left side of the photo we see the barrel of a coax MG. But then what is that smaller barrel on the right?
Option A) this is intended for a Chain gun and said gun is not installed. As the barrel would likely be 4-6 feet in length.
Option B) the second weapon is installed and visible that is the barrel of a grenade launcher possibilities include NATO spec 40x53mm , Russian35mm or Pla spec 35mm

Could also be the 20mm air burst round from the Chinese! That would be also for FUBA

I was complaining the lack of grenade launcher attachment to MG or Cannons on the "Chinese Export Forum" and now I see this. The only thing I wonder is if there is one for Cannons. Also, is that a 360 degree camera on top?

Imagine if you have a display system of 360 panoramic view and that you can aim the autocannon across the display screen(s) with a mouse, and then fine tune or zoom in if needed. Wonder if it will be more responsive and natural than swerving it with a joystick.

They could have a distributed aperture system for tanks.
