Wechat works in the US from play store. I think you might need a current user to invite/authenticate you though.
It seems more parties are joining the OpenHarmony initiative, the eclipse foundation with partners have taken the OpenHarmony specifications as their base for their new Oniro OS. The Oniro operating system should be able to run OpenHarmony apps and HarmonyOS should be able to run Oniro apps. So a more global app eco system can be build.
Why aren't Chinese social media companies more successful in the world?
You'd think that countries/governments like Nicaragua, Venezuela, Syria would be happy to leave Facebook/Twitter etcetera. Is it the first move advantage the US companies had, could you not link up the systems to share friends but still filter out the stuff you don't want?

Mainly because they aren't available outside of Chinese.
Exactly. Those companies are very comfortable focusing on the chinese market and have no incentive to hire translaters and open new overseas servers
Tencent and their TIMI studio released this trailer a while ago for their Honor of kings franchise, it cool to finally see Chinese game developer go for the AAA gaming space. How much of this is CGI or real gameplay is to be determined. But given Wukong and Unreal engine 5 they might be capable of succeeding in this vision.
Forgot to add that you can see Douyin App (maybe some of the streaming app too?) running on the desktop. Deepin has integrated thru there app store to run Andriod apps via a container (maybe docker or ?) like windows 11.
It's a mistake, IMO. Maybe the tech crackdown domestically will push them to be more aggressive overseas.
