There are already open source version Libre Office, Gimp , Octave. The US has already sanction against some Chinese entities using Matlab, so Octave is being used. It and other open source python tools are increasingly become very popular for math/data analysis/ml.
Nobody serious uses Libre Office over Microsoft Word. At this point Microsoft's ecosystem blows everything else out of the water.

IMO Microsoft's ecosystem needs to be broken up by the regulators.

Office is relatively cheap for a corporation to use. However, many users/startups/small buiness/univesity students have gone the free route(web office, google docs, apple, libre) since they really don't need the features of the paid version. In the context of China, China has a office app for the Chinese OS since there is not office support on linux.

I am not much of a fan of the curvey icon / mac os style, but some people think deepin is the most beauftiful linux desktop environment. I was gonna try it out, but I founded it a bit annoying that it needed 64 gigs to do an install onto a VM and it didn't offer a usb live edition
