If it uses a fuse like the RPG-7 it can be disabled by crushing the side which breaks the fuze connection to the warhead. Thats why slat armor is a thing.
First of all, I haven't found any official criticism from Nigeria. The only sources I could find are those jingoistic Filipino and Indian sites.
Second. Even if the Nigerians are truly complaining, their other tanks, the T-72s and T-55s would not have performed any better. If any tank is allowed to be hit multiple times by RPGs, in various directions, no amount of armour is gonna help. Blaming incompetence, or a poor battlefield result on equipment is what losers do. You can give them modern Western MBTs and it'll still end up the same way.
Scores of Leopard IIs, M1A1 Abrams, and Challenger IIs have been wrecked in Ukraine. They have fallen to RPGs, SACLOS ATGMs, AT Mines, drones, and mud. So aren't they paper tigers too?
