he reason to favor A320neo is because China want to keep the EU market open for other Chinese goods in return. Russia does not have that size of market to return the favor. This is the only reason that I picked up the subject of "good will".
EU market will remain open as long as China produce goods that are needed.
I dont want to go into detail but going forward manufacturing will be really get expensive in EU zone. so if Chinese are too much depended on them. they will face price gouging.

Will EU market still remain open to China if they have nothing to gain from the trade? How are they going to pay for their purchase of Chinese goods? Trade is two way, single sided trade can not last for long.

I think that you are thinking in the say way as the American sanctionist who based on the assumption that China can not live without US product. The fact is nobody has to rely on others, not the Chinese, not the Europeans. If China is willing to sacrifice for the great goal of C919 by paying longer time to build its capacity, by paying extra cost, why do you think that others is not willing and able to pay for higher cost if they have nothing to gain from trade with China? The reason that I talked about EU market is to win a party who does not have fundamental conflict with China, one more trading partner than enemy, to include more in China's camp. The only reason that China is to cut off Boeing is nothing but because US government choose to be enemy. Of course Boeing has to fix their crap first, but that is not the main point.

Hmm, so it's just for random civilian helicpters and not transport and heavy lift
It is the same power rating as the engine in Z-10 attack helicopter (WZ-9). It (AES-100) is not the same though from the look. So it may very likely have military value and application.

But I don't see why "transport and heavy" has a reason to be thought about. F-119 is certainly not as heavy as PW2000 on C-17, but you know what I want to say.

Yeah, I'm aware. Civilian helicopter market is far larger though obviously, their strategic value is in supporting the military side
From the look, I guess that you are trying to say that civilian business' value is to support military application? Military purpose is more important?

That is wrong, weapon has no value and purpose other than defending the civilian interests. Civilian business feed people who then would have extra resources to make weapon to defend their interests.

That post is getting way more attention than I expected. I was just curious on dual helicopter & aircraft engines in both civil & military fields. Seems that civ+mil helicopter is there and then civ+mil aircraft is not

It is China that built Railway system all the way to EU to make things cheaper and readily available.
you are assuming that Airbus is the only thing they exporting and Airbus will be the center of universe in EU exports going forward.
Airbus planes will get expensive (Look at input costs from energy to metals). it is better to transition now with pilot training and simulators. I will not further respond. you are working on incorrect assumtpions.

We are all making our analysis based on assumptions that can be wrong. Let's wait and see within next decade as Deng Xiaoping said "实践是检验真理的唯一标准".
