Yeapp, local fishermen are so happy that now they could sell a crayfish for NZ$100 each (live) to China. The price increase due to mainly China stop accepting Australian crayfish. NZ crayfish is the best and really delicious. Only 5-7 kms away from my place (Wellington), I could catch a few (max daily limit is 6 crayfish). I don't need to dive, just put 2-3 craypots in the morning and check in the following day or night, normally you would get one or two even more

Yup fully concurred, I've been to NZ and compare to Australia is like night and day, the people are friendly, the food is delicious and the scenery is spectacular. the bus trip from Queenstown to Christchurch is never boring as you see scenery changes before your eyes ;)

Guangdong GDP growth 2.3% YoY for 2020, now at 11 trillion RMB (1.6 trillion USD) making it number 1 across all provinces 32 years running. It has now exceeded South Korea's GDP of 1.54 trillion USD. If Guangdong was a country it would be the 8th largest economy in the world.

Bigger than Australia or Canada, Russia, Brazil, Spain, Indonesia, Mexico, etc ... amazing .. but just 1/2 of California :(

New Zealand still does not seem to want to allow Huawei 5G into their networks, which means they are on that side.

New Zealand signs a upgraded trade pack with China, which does not means they are on that other side.

All it means, is that New Zealand plays both sides. Who can blame them?

But ... here is the curious part ...

By continuing the ban on Huawei 5G, they get nothing, nothing new and more expensive network gear, in essence, no extra benefits by being on that side.

By upgrading their trade pack with China, New Zealand actually got something in return (although officially they still are on that side they always were on).

What are the other 5 lies gonna say? Do not improve your trading relationship with China? All Ardern will just say, "What exactly are you doing?"

There are smart people world, and there is Morrison man.

:p

But NZ hasn't banned Huawei for 5G yet, still under review ... I believe it will be limited allowed

The real goal is to eventually be twice as big as Korea. This is because Guangdong's population is twice the size of Korea. Then again you can make the argument Guangdongren do not necessarily have half the purchasing power of Koreans, because one unit of renminbi goes further in GD than one unit of won goes in Korea.
@Crang

With the Pearl River delta plan it will compete with Shanghai Yangtze delta and Beijing JING JIN JI. 3 economic bloc within a country, where's in heaven name could a country do that?

Their population is less than 5 million, much smaller than many cities in China.

If NZ thinks that banning Huawei could hurt Huawei and China then let them continue to dream.

If China and Huawei are too concerned about 5G in NZ, NZ will be even more arrogant.

NZ will think their market is very important and indispensable, and they will want to use it as a negotiation card, making it difficult for Huawei and China.

The best option is to ignore, not to care.

  • NZ and China have many disagreements and do not trust each other. Both sides need a ladder.
  • NZ may choose another country to provide 5G services
  • China and Huawei abandoned the NZ market
  • Both sides are happy.
