Scurbbed off Weibo, not to sure about what happened. Something along the lines of mass evictions by Eggshell Apartments, netizens were furious about it, now its being censored. Does anyone know what exactly happened in the incident?

It's a Ponzi scheme. Eggshell was an online rental agent which rapidly expanded by subsidizing the tenants (offering lower rents). Where did the money come from? It collect rents from tenants on a yearly basis but only pays the owner/leaser in quarterly installments. It then uses the reminder of the yearly installment to subsidize new tenants.

I don't know if Eggshell owners/executives ran with the money or what. Chinese regulators were horribly negligent in the last few years with first the P2P lending scheme then this. Someone needs to resign. But we all know that's not going to happen.

As for regulation, I've heard it's because a lot of regulations struggles to keep pace as these new industries exploded. Plus the fact that apparently, Xi did not have a consensus within the top leadership until recently to start tightening regulation and enforcement (ex. with Ant IPO).

No I would not care to explains to you. It is all plain to see. Kyli have explained everything pretty clear. And as I said above, you are dragging me into your arguments by accusing me of something I've not done. Until you can clear that up. I dont see why I should explain anything to you.

Depend on the location. Beijing municipal government is stepping in, and I expect other local governments to follow. It's actually not a lot of money. A couple billion USD at most. A lot of money were paid to earlier tenants as subsidies. So it's not a net loss for the society as a whole. Perhaps the biggest losers are going to be investors in Eggshell's NASDAQ-traded shares.
